” The Poor “

It is written “Blessed are the poor in Spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. (Matthew 5:3). We may ask if one is poor how can they gain heaven? Fortunately the answer is given us in revelation. (Revelation 3:17-18). Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Everything in this life is transient and we can be sure when we pass away nothing is taken with us, but there is something of great value that is taken which is the word of God and the knowledge gained of Christ! Jesus thought it was appropriate to preach the gospel to the poor. (Luke 4:17-19). And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

It is the poor and righteous who are exalted in the earth by God, while the wicked one’s life will not be preserved. When we wait upon the Lord His protection is over us! (Psalm 37:28-34)…. (1 Samuel 2:6-10). The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
