“The Problem With One Sided Religion”

God who has made us has equipped us with all emotions that he and his Son too encompassed. The problem with teaching God is Love only (Which he is) and not all of what scripture tells us keeps people away from what God loves and yes even at time hates. To preach the “God is love theme” only at sermons leaves out the whole character of who God really is! It is only allowing people to know half of who our creator truly is. If we do not teach all of who God is then if we have the emotion of being afraid, or hate something we know God would not like then theĀ “God is love theme” no matter does not help an individual at all. For we are to hate the evil and wickedness of this world for even God says it will not be in heaven. “For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked”.(Psalm 97:9,10).

Ā Ā Ā  We can read that Jesus loved his friends as we do too, and also the emotion of what he accepted and not accepted in the following passages: “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came unto her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!”.(John 11:5,33-36). We see here the love Jesus had for his friends and then in the next passage we see what he did not tolerate when he saw his Fathers will not being carried out as needed. “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves“.(Matthew 21:12,13).
Ā Ā Ā  If God and Christ tell of things they love and hate should not we do the same if we be followers of them?Ā  Should we like the sins committed against us if even God and Christ said not to accept it?Ā  “Seek good, and not evil, that yeĀ may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgement in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph”.(Amos 5:14,15). People lose sight that Jesus came to the earth for the very promise of bringing righteous judgement into the earth! “And Jesus said, For judgement I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind“.(John 9:39).
Ā Ā Ā  How about God? Is there passages that best describe what God loves and hates? At the giving of the ten commandments God displays jealousy, mercy and love. “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments”.(Exodus 20:3-6).
Ā Ā Ā  So to be constantly told one side of God and leave the other side of him out we are living a life not in line with the word as God has asked us to do as Christians who are following him. So let’s love what he loves and hate what he hates…….God clearly outlines for each and every one of us what is expected. “These are the things that ye shall do; speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgement of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord”.
(Proverbs 6:16-19)……(Psalm 139:21-24)……
(Zechariah 8:16,17).

  2. Jimlupis77………I absolutely agree with your comment, for how sad those who feel they are living for Christ as they follow all the world stands for and have left off standing for their Lord and Saviour! God Bless You.

  3. Great post! The problem is some have ran after ChristianiME, instead of Christianity. They have ran after self, instead of Jesus.
