New York lights up landmarks to celebrate late term abortion signed into law. They did this because they feared RoeVWade would be overturned.

There are no words to describe what the governor of New York did yesterday. As he and others jubilantly declared they legalized abortion up to birth for health reasons of the mother, Americans shed a tear.

This started me thinking how could abortion at 36 weeks save the life of a mother? I mean really think about it. At that point delivery is inevitable and so is the viability of the child. Yes it’s a child not a fetus or clump of cells. Anyway how could abortion be less stressful for a mother endangered. Then I thought my God how would they abort? Well it took a lot of searching as no one wanted to put this at the front especially abortion providers websites. Finally I found the how. They inject a drug that causes the heart in the baby to stop and then they induce labor. Causing a still birth. I read a few stories from women who elected this late term abortion and it does rip your heart out. They elected to perform this due to severe birth defects in the child. Not due to their health. Again no words.

One comment on Facebook said how is it immoral to inject heart stopping drugs into death row inmates but ok to kill a child in this manner?

The catholic governor raised outrage from citizens, businesses and the Catholic diocese.

Pro-life sites took to Twitter to voice their disapproval, as did many others.

The Bishops made a statement and ended it with this:

“Let us all pray for the conversion of heart for those who celebrate this tragic moment in the history of our state,” they said. “And we pray in a special way for the lives that will be lost, and for the women of our state who are made less safe under this law.”

Searching for stats on late term abortions or any abortion is also difficult. Here are some from the CDC:

According to the most recent national estimates, nearly one fifth of all pregnancies in the United States end in abortion (5). Multiple social, cultural, economic, and political factors are known to influence the incidence of abortion (CDC)

In 2015, 638,169 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. The abortion rate for 2015 was 11.8 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the abortion ratio was 188 abortions per 1,000 live births.(CDC)

 In 2015, 24.6% of all abortions were early medical abortions (a non-surgical abortion at ≤8 weeks’ gestation). The percentage of abortions reported as early medical abortions increased 114% from 2006 to 2015, with an 8% increase from 2014 to 2015. 

Unintended pregnancy is the major contributor to induced abortion. Increasing access to and use of effective contraception can reduce unintended pregnancies and further reduce the number of abortions performed in the United States.

Abortion ratios were highest for the youngest women (750 abortions per 1,000 live births for women aged <15 years and 391 per 1,000 for women aged 15–19 years) and for the oldest women (338 per 1,000 live births for women aged >40 years) 

You don’t have to be statistician to realize that late term abortions >20-36 weeks will increase dramatically. New York joins this list of those who have no gestational age limit on abortion:Alaska, Colorado, D.C., New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont.
