I Celebrate Christ At Christmas

In the darkness of our world today, the light of Christ, and the prophecy He fulfilled in His miraculous birth is missed by so many.  Especially with the renewed push from athiests, and others to remove Christ, I choose to celebrate Christ at Christmas.

But, when Christians disagree with each other, many times they will accuse one of idolatry likening them to ancient demonic,  false gods.

Unfortunately ancient gods are so misunderstood.
I’ve written many times about ancient gods and their evil.
What is idol worship? Its not hard to figure out. We can learn from history in the Bible like the exodus. The Israelites grew weary of waiting for Moses so they talked Aaron into melting all their gold and forming a golden calf because they needed a tangible god. Even after the miracles they had just witnessed. The Levites were the only ones who didn’t worship this.

Baal was not something to joke about. Baal was a Cannonite god with ties to tangible idols like the Asherah pole, in fact its said baal and asherah were married once.   He was the god of fertility and rain. This is why God witheld rain for 3 years to show them He was in charge of rain. Not baal. There were actual prophets and priests for this god. Read the story of Elijah and the prophets of baal. It was a god actually worshipped.
The cannonites and followers of ancient demonic gods worshipped everything from trees to precious metals and even stones. Actually bowing and declaring allegiance to these gods/demons. Human sacrifice even to baal usually required a first born child.

Molech, another demon god who had an alter like all the others requiring sacrifice of children.

The kingdom was snatched from Solomon because he allowed his wives to erect alters and statues of foreign gods. Foriegn gods they actually bowed to and declared allegiance to.

The idols of Rome were real statues made from stone, wood or gold. Money was paid to them, sacrifices were made to them, they bowed to them.

Today satan is in plain site with his worshippers including witchcraft and cultic practices.

There are idols in the East which people still bow to as a god.

There is an idol in the mid-east requiring not only bowing to it, but to kiss it. Its a stone.

Christians love to throw accusations at each other of paganism or idol worship, without understanding the true meanings.

My Christmas tree is not an idol. Its not an asherah pole, or other wood tree worshipped as a god.  “An Asherah pole is a sacred tree or pole that stood near Canaanite religious locations to honor the Ugaritic mother-goddess Asherah, consort of El.

Asherim are mentioned in the Hebrew Bible in the books of Exodus, Deuteronomy, Judges, the Books of Kings, the second Book of Chronicles, and the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Micah.”
I don’t bow to a Christmas tree or declare it god.  The evergreen represents eternal life, the lights represent the light of Christ. The red and gold represents the royalty Christ was born for. Period.
The Christmas trees in the White House this year are red. The official statement says this: “The choice of red is an extension of the pales, or stripes, found in the presidential seal designed by our Founding Fathers.  It’s a symbol of valor and bravery.”
In fact there is a statement for all colors like this one: “As one makes their way through the Green Room, Americans are reminded of the country’s bounty and harvest.” Regardless of what you think or agree with about President Trump he has brought Christ back to our Capitol. Not only through the above but through the many prayers and mentions of Christ.

That said I did watch a Christmas movie where a couple planted an evergreen tree in their youth, and met there every year as it grew tall and with hands joined asked the tree to bless them and grant their wishes. That is idolatry, that is paganism.
Gift giving is done every day during Hannakha and during Christmas to represent the blessings God gave the Israelites and for us, the gifts God gave us through Christ. I do not participate in commercialism. That is not Gods gift. The spirit of Christmas is Gods love and the light of Christ, and the Hope of a dying, corrupt world. My best memory is from Christmas eve while my father read the story of Christ’s birth from Luke chapter 2.
Millions of Christians, persecuted Christians celebrate Christmas because its their hope for peace. Its one of the only things that sets them apart from the religion that views Jesus as only a prophet, not the son of God, a religion so legalistic it wants to kill them for their belief in Christ as Gods Son. Will you take that hope from them? Will you destroy their faith? Before you cause a brother to stumble think about it. Would you do as the early apostles accused the judiazers then of?  Placing a yoke around their necks that noone could bear, not the fathers or the Apostles, instead of the Grace offered by God through Christ? Think about it. Believe and worship as you wish but you can’t judge a persons heart only God can do that. What if you push some away from God, with your vociferous complaints and accusations of paganism, will you be held accountable?

One last thing Christmas is not, only 200 years old.  Maybe in America but the first mention of Christmas was in 301 AD and its not because there were more Christians than pagans.  Just the opposite, and the early church wanted to give Christians an alternative to the pagan celebration of saturnelia and also bring more to Christ. I can not condemn them for that.

This will be the last commentary I write on this because it allows satan to steal joy and peace and detract from the celebration of our Lord and Saviors Birth.  And its not up for debate, I’ve heard and read it all, and frankly it sickens my heart, the world finally recognizes the birth of a Savior and Christians complain. I only want to give food for thought and truth about idols and ancient gods.    And beg all to be kind to one another and show love during Christmas.

So Merry Christmas and may Gods love and the light of Christ shine on you and the world.
Come quickly Lord Jesus.
