“My Spirit Rejoices”

“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…..”( Luke 1:47)

There’s a simple way to achieve Joy at Christmas, why is it ignored.  The disciples knew this, the shepards that witnessed the birth of Christ knew it, Mary knew it, Simeon knew it,  King Herod knew it and with satans help tried to destroy it.  And he still is at work stealing our joy, clouding the meaning of Christmas.

While reading and studying Gods word about the miraculous birth of His Son, my spirit was filled with Joy and peace that can only come from God. The peace that passeth all understanding. I am at Peace with God,  finally in my life. Anyway an old song from my youth rang in my mind, “Ive got the joy, joy, joy down in my heart.” Most every Christian has heard this song, but may not have heard the entirety of it. This part of the lyrics are still humerously, but truthfully, appropriate:
“I’ve got the far out faith that freaks out the farmers down in my heart…I’ve got the glorious hope of my blessed redeemer way down in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the mighty Messiah that manifests miracles down in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the beautiful blessing that baffles the Buddhists down in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the Christian confession that confuses the Communists down in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the far out feeling that freaks out the Pharisees down in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the love of Jesus Christ my savior down in my heart…I’ve got the wonderful love of my blessed redeemer way down in the depths of my heart…And if the devil doesn’t like it he can sit on a tack, ouch, sit on a tack, ouch, sit on a tack. And if the devil doesn’t like it he can sit on a tack. Sit on a tack to stay.I’ve got the brightest light in the depths of my heart…I’ve got the infinite love of the living lord down in the depths of my heart…” (Wikipedia)
Yes! The devil will not steal my joy, he can sit on a tack.
How do you get the spirit of Christmas? Accept Jesus to come into your life. If your already Christian, praise and Glorify God. Show your awe and amazement of the greatest gift to a dying world. Shout it, sing it and demand that the world honors our Saviour and His birth.  Its that simple, throw out the denials of Christ and the commercialisation and shout your Joy!  Now and every day as you reflect.
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
