Christ taught us so much about prayer take the Centurion for example who came to Christ for his dying servant he said he wasn’t worthy and Christ marveled at his faith said go home to him, and he was healed at that exact moment. The poor Widow that went into the temple with her prayers and her offering didn’t say to everybody on the way, and look this is all I have and I’m going to give it to God so that He’ll recognize me, she didn’t say a word but Christ knew immediately that, the woman’s prayers would be heard before all others because she gave everything that she had and she gave it without hesitation. Christ taught us how to pray to our father. Through Christ we are told that we can go boldly Before the Throne of God, and if we ask in Christ name he will give anything for Him. That doesn’t mean that we can say I want a brand new car, I want a million dollars, I want a brand new jet, and I’m going to ask for it in Jesus’s name and we’ll get it. God gives us what we need, when we need it, and our prayer coupled with faith is what God listens to.
Revelation 8
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
The Bible also tells us that the prayers of the Saints are carried to the throne room by the Angels. (Revelations 8)
So when praying for healing, daily needs, for deliverance or intercession, know that through Christ we can boldly go before the Throne of God and with Faith our prayers are heard. Some have told of pastors telling their flock you have no faith, thays why your prayers are not answered. They overlook Gods will. Jesus prayed for the cup of trembling to be removed from Him if it be Gods will. Prayer is satans fear. Prayer is our greatest weapon, and defense. Some who spew hatred and curse God at every disaster scream we dont want your prayers. They dont want Gods grace or His healing or understanding.
Prayer is our way of communicating with God our Father, just as Jesus prayed so do we. He said we are to enter a quiet place (closet) and by praying in secret God will reward us openly (Matthew 6:3-13).
Jesus gives the perfect example of how faith can move mountains in our life as we read of the man that had a son who was a lunatic and Jesus rebuked the devil and healed him. The disciples were not able because of unbelief.
It is the continual prayer of the righteous that has the ability to have their prayers answered. Elijah was such a person who prayed it would not rain and so it didn’t for 3 1/2 years then when he prayed again the rain returned! A life of prayer causes us to walk closer to God and in the process see His miraculous work in our life and those who we pray for! (James 5:13-20). 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Remember to include thanksgiving in your prayers even before they are answered. Remember to pray and ask God to bless your food, at mealtime. Work toward keeping your mind set on prayer and our Lord. Begin and end each day with prayer. And if your awakened in the middle of the night, pray.
