We cannot put a price on any life, yet Judas Iscariot made the grave mistake of setting the price of our Lord of thirty pieces of silver a mere $52.80 in its time! From the moment the price was made Judas set out to betray our Lord. (Matthew 26:14-16). Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Just as an evil act that is done in the world today, we can be sure satan and his power of darkness is at work……. and so it was with Judas when satan entered him was he moved to betray Jesus. (Luke 22:1-6).
We too are bought with a price, and it has been paid in full by the precious blood of Christ. It is the eternal word of God we live by, and our hope and faith is in God because of the resurrection power we have seen in His Son Jesus. (1 Peter 1:18-25) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you……. ( 1 Corinthians 7:20).
We are forewarned just as there were false prophets and teachers in Jesus day, so will there be among us those who will deny the Lord who has bought them.( 2 Peter 2:1-3).
