I am greatly disturbed by a facebook post from a lead Pastor of a Baptist church. If you follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, doctrines taught by false shepards or doctrines of demons strike you as if it pierces your soul. At times, like this morning it makes the hair stand on end.
His post was titled Hymns that teach us wrong doctrine. So naturally I had to read it, as he started off with our singing is to Glorify God. Then He went down the slippery slope of new age teaching. While I agree Hymns are not Biblical, the mockery in this man’s condemnation is appalling.
He attacked the Hymn “He lives” in a way that would make satan and Joy Behar proud. Mocking this hymn stating that it meant we were hearing voices and hinting at mental illness, yes He did! God will not be mocked. “Woe to the shepards who scatter the flock.” Jeremiah 23:1.
He keyed in on the lyric that says “How do I know He lives? He lives within my heart.” This he said was like a mental illness implying someone is hearing voices. This grieves my spirit.
Another Hymn he attacked was “Blessed Assurance.” Loaded for bear he said, when does one have perfect joy simply from submitting to Christ. I really don’t know where to begin with this.
The Hymn says: Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blessed
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
Suggesting we are not filled with perfect joy or blessed his drivel went on and on. Saying “when have you ever experienced perfect delight?” This man is not a Christian let alone a Pastor. And yes I can judge his words, this man attacks my Lord and the Holy Spirit. I’m not saying we have an easy road or won’t experience tribulation or persecution, but to deny that submitting, and being baptized by the Holy Spirit doesn’t bring joy, peace or delight is blasphemy.
Be very careful what you allow into your mind and heart from these false teachers. Seminaries are full of those diminishing the promise we have through Christ, our delight in eternal life with our Savior and Gods promises.
Rock concerts have replaced old hymns from the heart, and called worship. In fact the sermon is no longer the central part of the world’s contemporary church. In fact it has its own title and team. The sermon is second and watered down. It’s called Praise and Worship and its atmosphere of a bar with a rock concert is the new age world friendly church. Appealing and number driven, we see weak, watered down itchy ear doctrine designed to fill pews and give a warm fuzzy feeling to yourself, not God.
Run from this and as Christ said: I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. (Revelation 3:18)
These old Hymns remind us of Christ, and the joy serving Him brings to our heart. Our riches are not of this world. From Christs time to present men and women have died for this submission to Christ. Why? Because He lives! And He sets us free, He promised life eternal, and He does walk with me and talks with me. Christian mayters and those persecuted know this. Our bodies are His Temple, and He speaks to us in ways that those who are not Christian can’t understand. Joy Behar has labeled our Vice President and all Christians with the belief of God speaking to us, as Mentally Ill. And this so called Pastor backs up that claim, denying the very core of the doctrine of Christ. This Pastor reminds me of Peter when He denied Christ to avoid labeling as a follower. Peter returned after satan sifted his soul, but sadly satan has infiltrated the Body of Christ. This Pastor is afraid of liberals condemnation of Christians and has conformed to the world. I am not ashamed of Christ or His gospel.
You can deny Christ in many ways. One way, like this Pastor is to deny His power! This isn’t a Pastor saying he prefers contemporary music over Gospel music, it’s a Pastor denying the power that submitting to Christ brings, denying the power of the Holy Spirit. However he justifies it, it’s still the same. Be very wary of false shepards.
Matthew 10:33
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
