We are living in a time that as they say history repeats itself, it looks as though the recession and hard time of so many years ago has prominently returned, but this time the President and our leaders do not have God in the forefront as the Lincoln did and made sure prayer was kept over the people. Prophesy is more in line with the written word than ever before! It used to be a time to be called a Christian was held in high regard. People are now trying ways to fit Jesus into their lives than to have themselves in Christ. We are very much in the time when there is a famine in the land and it is of hearing the word of God! “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it”.(Amos 8:11-12).
It is so important to know the Lords way, and even in famine of any kind will the Lord God keep his people from harm. “Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee”.(Psalm 33:18-22).
How many people live their life without God until they are in trouble and then they call upon him for help? And he is a just God and will help, yet many return to their ways that got them into trouble and it becomes a vicious circle of events. The time will come that unless a life was lived solely under the obedience of God that he will not be found by those who use him for a time then go back to wrong. If people leave God out of their lives, he says he will reward the people for the rejecting of his way, just as he did when he indicted Israel. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because they have rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings”.(Hosea 4:6,9).
We see more and more the water systems going bad in our country and elsewhere and we are now at places buying our water, but the true famine of all will be in the final days where faith will be of most importance and the reliance of God will show forth as the people will not be able to buy or sell. (Revelation 13:16-18). But in those days God will give his people knowledge and will not leave them without for their trust in him will provide all they need! “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David”.(Isaiah 55:1-3).
Dear people of God fret not for our Father in heaven knows the needs of his people who trust in him! “I council thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and annoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see”.(Revelation 3:18). The true kingdom of God is not food and drink, but the wine (Blood of Christ) and his body (bread of life) will suffice and God will provide no matter what! Remember the raven that fed Elijah guided by God why would he not be able to provide for his people in the end? He is the same God! “And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brookChe’-rith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Che’-rith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and fish in the morning, and bread and fish in the evening; and he drank of the brook”.(1 Kings 17:2-6).
