The Truth Gives Freedom

There is liberty found in believing the truth Christ died to bring us. He did not die in vain, but bought many gifts by the sacrifice of himself. We are given redemption, forgiveness of sins, renewed strength daily as well as the freedom from many things the world keeps us in bondage to. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”.(Galatians 5:1).

We are given a very good explanation from Jesus himself how if anyone lives in unrepentant sin they are a slave then to that sin and are held accountable unless it be placed at the foot of the cross and be far removed as the east is from the west. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed”.(John 8:31-36).

How many of us at one time or another in our life had so much going on and felt so burdened with out a way out?  Then someone came along with just the right solution and we feel a weight lifted? Well Jesus is that burden lifter as well and it is not temporary, but an eternal freedom for the soul and as we study the word he will lessen the yoke of bondage that a person endures if given the chance to enter a life. Let his way bring freedom to your life! “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”.(Matthew 11:28-30).

Since the garden of Eden and to our present day we have free will, but how free we are is only in how much we’re willing to die to self and live in the freedom Christ died to give us. “For if you live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father”.  (Romans 8:13-15).

The words of Christ bring freedom to anyone tired of trying to battle things on their own. A life dedicated to our Saviour is not trouble free, But the comfort and help given by the word of God surpasses any other book read in the world! So we must ask ourselves at this point should we be wasting time waiting to be free by searching the worlds ways of solving any problem or allow the one who paid the price at the cross to set man free and give eternal life to all who turn to him?
