Can The Saved Still Lose Their Salvation

saved

The once saved always saved theory although would most certainly bring comfort it does however not reflect the truth of the word of God. We read of one such statement from scripture of those who left Egypt were later destroyed after unbelief! “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not”.   (Jude 1:4-5).

There is another passage of scripture which describes it even better how although one had repented and experienced the heavenly gift of the Holy Spirit and had fallen away only needing to once again be renewed by repenting. “And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame”. (Hebrews 6:3-6).

People can and do actually forget the salvation their soul once experienced, and the pull that all the world offers draws them back to where they once were freed from. We are to make sure we always stand firm in our faith of the Lord Jesus Christ and as we partake of the knowledge of the Saviour of our soul we will be blessed and never barron of his wisdom. “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barron nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall”.(2 Peter1:5-10).

Dear people we can never go anywhere outside the realm of God that he does not know where we are. We can never fail so miserably that if we are genuinely and truly are sorry for an act against our Father in heaven that he will not pardon! He will however hold us accountable for our life choices and if they be of him we can rest assured that our salvation is sure!. God is ever merciful yet we do need to do our part. “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or wither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou are there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me”.(Psalm 139:7-10).

  3. Nowhere from Genesis to Revelation does it teach once saved always saved. Quite the contrary, Jesus said many would cry Lord Lord! and not be acknowledged.

Only the overcomer shall be saved; by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
