Christians Aressted In Urmia Iran By Iran Security Forces

(VOCIR)  We have learned that in the early morning hours of February 20th a Christian couples home was broken into and raided by Iranian Security forces.

Sister Anooshe(Veronica) Reza Bakhsh
Brorher Soheil(Agoostin) Zargar Zade Sani,  they are prominent members of a Catholic Church in Urmia.

They entered the house with radios and guns, threatening the family.  They aressted the couple and seized laptops, documents and Bibles.  The family does not know where they are, and are afraid to give further information.

Iran has begun a larger crackdown on Christians despite Rouhani’s talk of better human rights.  Christians are targeted frequently and this latest attack on members of a large Catholic Church show they do not intend to improve rights for religious minorties.  their lives are in grave danger.

Urmia is the 10th most populated city in Iran. At the 2012 census, its population was 667,499 with 197,749 households.  The city’s inhabitants are predominantly Iranian Azerbaijanis who speak Azeri Turkish,  as well as Iran’s official language, Persian. There are also minorities of Kurds, Assyrians, and Armenians.  The city is the trading center for a fertile agricultural region where fruits (especially apples and grapes) and tobacco are grown.

An important town by the 9th century, Urmia was seized by the Seljuk Turks (1084), and later occupied a number of times by the Ottoman Turks. For centuries the city has had a diverse population which has at times included Muslims (Shias and Sunnis), Christians (Catholics, Protestants, Nestorians, and Orthodox), Jews, Bahá’ís and Sufis. Around 1900, Christians made up more than 40% of the city’s population, however, most of the Christians fled in 1918 as a result of the Persian Campaign during World War I and the Armenian and Assyrian Genocides.(Wiki)

Again this is very serious, please share this and send it to representatives in the US, and other Western Nations.  if your on twitter please share.  Pray for their safety and that the Iranian Regime be held accountable for its actions of persecuting it’s own citizens.

This is a breaking story and we will update as information becomes available.  Speak out for them!
