The heart is spoken of many times throughout scripture, and there is no one who knows the heart of man better than the Lord God!(1 John 3:18-24), 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 Samuel 16:7).
The following passages tell us how there is so much that the heart of man and even the Lord heart has in it.
1.Meek and lowly (Matthew 11:29).
2.Burning (Luke 24:32).
3.Troubled (John 14:27).
4.Pure (Matthew 5:8).
5.Proud (Proverbs 28:25).
6.Joyful and rejoicing (John 16:22).
7.Hardened (Hebrews 3:7-12).
8.Idolatry (Ezekiel 14:1-8).
It is God alone who knows the hearts of us all as we see when Judas needed to be replaced and Joseph called Bar’-sa-bas and Matthias were appointed as they prayed “Thou,Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of thee two thou hast chosen”(Acts 1:23-26). 23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
