This post bears repeating.
There are many who daily live in bondage and are not aware of the freedom found in Christ. They have their hearts set on the bondage of drugs, live a life of crime, are servants to the lust’s of the flesh or maybe something out of their control as a very bad childhood. For whatever the reason the message of Christ stays the same and is preached to set the captives free. He endured the cross and bought our freedom! Just as he preached so long ago his message is for us today and is ageless. “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esai-as (Isaiah). And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord”.(Luke 4:17-19).
The prisoners are set free through the knowledge of Christ, his teachings take one from this worlds trouble and teaches them of what really is important which is the world to come where he will be King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is why he tells us to learn of him. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”. (Matthew 11:28-30).
The beautiful story of Paul and Sila tell’s of two men who had a strong Faith in God and although they were in prison this faith did not waiver, when they prayed and began to sing praises the prison doors were opened. “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed”.(Acts 16:25,26).
It is written we will have mountains in our life, but no matter what a strong faith can move any mountain in the life of the Believer! “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”.(Mark 11:22-24).
We will have tribulations in this life, but we have the Grace of a Loving God who Loves and cares for his children. And it is through these trials and if we faint not it will lead us to Glory! “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith in him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man”.(Ephesians 3:12-16).
