In the Lord there is more to life than eating and drinking, and as some get caught up that some foods are unclean while others are clean we must not destroy our fellowman in that the kingdom of God is more than this for it is righteousness, peace and joy in the holy spirit our life is maintained. This life is not about us, but about telling and showing others of the Lord who died to give us salvation (Romans 14:14-20). I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
Did you know our Lord did not always think about Himself nor did He please Himself with what the world offered, He only spoke His Fathers will and that was His sole mission!(Romans 15:1-4). We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
The law and the prophets are set upon more than just ourselves, but on the action of treating others as we would want to be treated and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This life is not all about us, but the way we treat each other in the spirit of Christ! (Matthew 22:37-40), Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12).
