” The Whole Duty of Man “

Ecclesiastes1213

The following passage sums up what our purpose is while we live our life, and that is to fear God and keep His commandments.(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Jesus even said if we love Him we will keep His commandments, and we read of how important it is throughout the whole Bible that we should fear God for our own good.(John 14:21)  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.,(1 John 5:1-3).

When we fear the Lord He reveals to us wisdom that only He can give, and by it our life is protected!(Proverbs 2:1-9).  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
