God sent His perfect Son to an imperfect world that was in need of a Saviour! And although man may seek perfection he is not complete nor perfect except in Christ. (1 John 4:7-13) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit…… (John 17:22-26).
Man in the flesh left to himself will never please God, for only by having faith and by seeking after righteousness would only be the beginning of what is asked of us in being a Christian. (Hebrews 11:6). Unless we turn to Christ then our righteousness is as filthy rags, and we are as clay in the potters hands to mold us into the vessel that is pleasing to Him.(Isaiah 64:4-8). Until we are born again in Christ we remain imperfect, as only His Holy Spirit can make us perfect. (Hebrews 12:22-23) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,…. (2 Corinthians 7:1).
If there were ever a passage written which tells us we are not perfect, but that after we suffer awhile are we strengthened and made perfect by God calling us by Christ Jesus it would be (1 Peter 5:6-11). Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
