He Could Have Called 10,000 Angels!

As our Savior entered Jerusalem He knew what awaited Him.  He went willingly, He gave His life so that we might live.  Noone took His life, He gave it.  He spoke not a word in His own defense.  It even stunned Pilot that He was silent.  Pilot finding no fault let the people decide what to do and they cried ” Crucify Him”.
Matthew 27:  Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.” 12 And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.

13 Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?” 14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
It may surprise you to know that Jesus remained silent and even that the disciples taught this.  Acts 8 shows us this in the baptizing of the Eunich.
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
I love to spend Holy Week meditating on Jesus and what he sacrificed for us.  This year I wonder why so many are quiet about Jesus’ deity.  Thank you Lord you could have called 10,000 angels to rescue you.

A prayer for Unity.
