It’s been about 2 months since Americans were released by Iran. Pastor Saeed Abidini was one of those released after 3 years in one of the most vile prisons in Iran. He has described in speaking engagements and media interviews and on his Facebook page the vile treatment he and others received at the hands of the Iranians. Tortured, beaten and forced to watch executions daily, not knowing whether he would live or die. Not knowing whether he would ever leave that dark evil. He describes how many came to Christ through his faith. How faith increased during this time.
He described how Iranian Christians who are forced to worship under ground long for revival, long for the word of God.
He describes how we in America think we have revival because we attend worship service, etc. and how true revival must come from the Holy Spirit. He calls for the kind of revival that sends us to our knees crying out to the Lord. And he is so right.
He also says that Americans are now looking to government (politics) and man instead of looking to God.
Pastor Saeeds statement from Facebook:
(John 3:8) “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Today, in my talk with David Naseer ( Sr. Vice President OSP) in Liberty University, I talked about my belief and the Lord’s guidance about revival coming to the U.S.
I told him since I had come here, because of having experienced revival, so many pastors asked me to pray for it to come to America and I am praying fervently.
When I left the U.S. and ended up in prison in Iran, my thought was Americans don’t care about politics. but after four years, I see that everyone is talking about politics. For me, this is a sign that America is thirsty but mistakenly looking to politics to quench that thirst.
Americans realized they need change but they are looking in the wrong place.
No politician can bring change. Only the Lord Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit can make it happen.
When I was talking to David, I said that I had asked one of the students, “Do you have revival in your university?” She said, “I think we have. We have good worship, good Bible study and people are serving the Lord.” These are great things but I do not think this is true revival.
New believers in Iran pray at least five hours a day and they are ready to give their life to keep their faith. And when you ask them if they have revival, they say, “No! We don’t know the Bible very well, we don’t evangelize enough and we don’t preach. We can’t find a church to go to and we feel very bad about it.” In them, I see revival. American Christians have so much and are such good people but we still need revival in our hearts. The fall on your knees and pray, kind of revival.
So I see, those who think they have revival, really don’t. And those who don’t think they have revival, do.
Jesus said to Nicodemus that you don’t know how the Holy Spirit comes or from where it is coming.
A broken wall in prison was a place that let the wind blow through.
A broken heart is a place where revival can come through.
Rip your heart, not your clothes.
I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment. It’s time for Americans to fall to their knees and beg for repentance and mercy as we have grown selfish and cold hearted. We have forgotten our first love. And are now chasing after worldly pleasures given by man instead of the Almighty.
We have a man who just returned from the front line of persecution. A man snatched from darkness by the hand of God begging us to return to God with a fervent heat of revival and many don’t even recognize the importance of this message.
Others in persecuted lands are saying the same things. Many are praying for us here, praying for revival in America and repentance as they are fearful for us. Imagine those tortured and hiding are praying for us. How selfish we have become. We would do well to heed these words from our Brother. As Jesus warned also in Revelation but America has become so cold and hardened pushing the word of God from its pulpits as well as the public square.
Many think these words could not possibly be about them.
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,[g] I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”
Well I have a news flash for you, these words are about the church today. You have only to open your eyes with the spirit to see! It’s not all about you, it’s about our Father and His Son. It’s about those who will die in their sins because they didn’t hear the word of God. It’s about our brethren suffering in darkness and longing for worship, the worship we are throwing away.
Wake up America. And most importantly wake up the Body of Christ. Some time ago while pastor Saeed was still in prison, I had a dream. In this dream I was shown a long array of gallows with the hangman’s noose dangling. I was raised up and close and given instruction on the type of rope and how it was made and shown this was in Iran. After some time of studying the rope a sense of fear came over me and I was awakened crying with the words “THEY WILL DIE IN THEIR SINS”. screaming over and over in my mind. I feared for Pastor Saeed but after his release I learned about the many hangings he watched of Muslims in Iran. And knew this was my dream. And we in the West don’t seem to care that lives and souls are being lost. Why aren’t we praying for them?
It’s time for revival!
