“The Cross Before Me, The World Behind Me”

About 10 years ago as I was still riding the fence about my walk with God, I was taken to my knees and as I looked up and felt God’s hand reaching down, I said the words: OK I’ll follow you, but you have to be in front of me. And so He has. I don’t have an easy road by no means but I have Him. On that day I decided to follow Christ wherever he took me, AND THERE IS NO TURNING BACK.

Remember our brethren in countries where there is no freedom to follow Christ. They can’t openly proclaim their allegiance to Jesus. They are hunted, killed and tortured for their faith. We praise you Lord for your presence and your light. Give each of us a spirit of courage to let your light shine in this darkness.  Help us to pray and encourage them as if we are in the same body with them.   Dietrich Bonhoeffer who died for his faith in WWll, left a great legacy for Christians.  In one of  his books he wrote:

“We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.”

We are considered the shining city on the hill.  We in America still have freedom to speak out against injustice.  Let us speak out while we still can.  As all Christians should know “the night is coming that no man can work.”  “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.  John 9:4

Remember we must not let this light be extinguished or changed in any way.  Matthew 5: 15-16 Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

And remember “I have decided to follow Jesus, the cross before me, the world behind me, there’s no turning back.”

  1. With all the chaos in this life I find it hard to believe not everyone has turned to Christ, but sadly enough not all do. He truly is our only hope in a world set on evil. Throughout life I have seen lives torn apart and the Lord was never their answer or a way of comfort??????? How people can not call on the only one who can comfort and turn things around is mind boggling to say the least. Great post Sister. God Bless and strengthen you in your walk with Him.
