Again, I write about the hatred that those who call themselves Christian are spouting. They have literally made it a point to troll everything even a Bible Study that Pastor Saeed Abidini writes. The hatred is obvious and painful to read even for me. As he made his way to Washington today to thank Representatives that helped with his release from Prison in Iran you would not believe the name calling and hatred that was exhibited on a public social media post. And it’s every post he makes.
So it sparked me to find out just what an Internet Troll is. You will be surprised. We know there are paid trolls by the government to cause division and sow hatred in conservative media. But do you know the definition of an Internet Troll?
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement.
- This sense of the word “troll” and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, but have been used more widely.
- Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, mass media has used troll to describe “a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families.
- Some psychologists have suggested that flaming would be caused by deindividuation or decreased self-evaluation:the anonymity of online postings would lead to disinhibition amongst individuals
- “Trolls aspire to violence, to the level of trouble they can cause in an environment. They want it to kick off. They want to promote antipathetic emotions of disgust and outrage, which morbidly gives them a sense of pleasure.
Ok so you get the idea. There are people who are so unhappy in their own lives that they troll the internet sowing discord and division and hatred to purposely cause harm and grief to families. And it gives them a morbid sense of pleasure. I have said this before. These trolls are like those that I call Gawkers. You know the kind that hit the breaks when passing an accident only to look at blood and suffering. You know the type I’m talking about. I have never understood why some people would purposely visit a site they knew they didn’t agree with only to leave hateful comments. One point of example is a post I wrote on Tribulation and the Rapture. You know my position if you have been following here long. And I might add, I long to see my Savior in the Sky! Since I am a post-tribulation rapture believer my post drew all sorts of trolls and hatred. I was cursed, I was threatened with death, and that doesn’t even cover the vitriol thrown at me by so called Christians. Christians in name only. But I just wanted to show what is happening and all I’ve read say’s to ignore them. But alas ignoring doesn’t make them go away. They are much like a wild animal when they smell blood they go for the juglar.
One commentor on the hate filled commenting said what I have thought. Non-Christians reading these hate filled comments turn from God. Athiests have a field day, as they see the Bible as hate speech, and us as selfish since we spread the Gospel of the only way to the Father. We won’t stop this from happening, and we were warned of the Great falling away in the end times. But it still isn’t easy to watch. If your reading or are the target of this hate, report it. Pray about it, and you can also call them out, but it’s much like feeding the bears. Once you feed them they will attack the innocent to look for food.
Jude say’s it best:
But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
