The world is captivated with a small piece of ground that leaders of countries have been obsessed with for centuries. As if it carried magic. And in some respects it is majestic, Holy ground as once the Glory of God stood on the Temple Mount. Jesus taught there, made His triumphal entry there, was tried there and crucified as the spotless, sinless sacrifice. Christians and Jews alike share a reverence for this Holy mountain. Muslims claim it and say the Jews never had a presence there, despite contrary evidence.
2 Samuel 7
12 “‘When you die and join your ancestors, I will make one of your sons the next king, and I will set up his kingdom. 13 He will build a house for me, and I will let his kingdom rule always. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he sins, I will use other people to punish him. They will be my whips. 15 I took away my love from Saul, whom I removed before you, but I will never stop loving your son. 16 But your family and your kingdom will continue always before me. Your throne will last forever.’
As Jesus was leaving the Temple that day, one of his disciples said, “Teacher, look at these magnificent buildings! Look at the impressive stones in the walls.”
Jesus told us as with the woman at the well that there was coming a day that the Temple would be insignificant for prayer. And we know that His sacrificial death gave us a new covenant and God resides in us not a building. He wanted us to know today also that while being denied access to pray on this ground, we need not worry.
“Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.22“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.24“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”25The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” 26Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
Not only did he tell her of the new Covenant He told her He was the Messiah.
My point is that the current occupiers of what is a Holy ground claim to recognize our Savior but deny His Kingdom. Even denying His sacrifice. The Jewish people do not recognize Jesus either but as Jesus said “salvation comes from the Jews.” We are grafted into the FOREVER covenant God made with Israel. We are rooted in them. Our History is their history.
So when a people claim that the Jewish people are non-existent and have no claim to the site God gave them, we should pay attention, not placate. Because not only are they attempting to erase the Jews from history they erase Christ and his followers also.
If they truly came from the one true God they would recognize God’s prophetic word. But instead they follow a lie. Who is the greatest deceiver of all? Satan. And what does the Quran claim about Allah? That he is the greatest deceiver of all.
The Quran mentions many times that their God is the greatest deceiver.
Arabic: ومكروا ومكر الله والله خير الماكرين
Transliteration: Wamakaroo wamakara Allahu waAllahu khayru almakireena
Literal: And they cheated/deceived and God cheated/deceived, and God (is) the best (of) the cheaters/deceivers.
When they rise up to kill people simply for existing or steal their history and covenants to make it their own and will kill those who don’t believe their vitriol, we need to pay attention.
It’s not the first time that someone with twisted ideology attempted to hijack the Spirit of God. It’s not the first time Christians were killed for believing in Christ. But it is the one warning from Christ that remains true today. He warned us we would be killed for His name sake.
9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. 12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of Godand the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
While reading the above response to Simon we can see Peter’s words resonating through the ages today. They are indeed full of bitterness and captive to sin.
