Is the Obama Administration Indifferent to Christians and Those Suffering For Christ?

(Voice of the Persecuted) Today, in this moment, Christians are being overtly persecuted in over 60 nations around the globe.  Daring to be Christians and claiming Jesus is Lord, they are sought out, harassed, imprisoned, beaten by violent mobs, their churches and villages burned to the ground and killed for nothing more than being followers of Christ. It’s open season on Christians, the most persecuted religious group in the modern world.

silence-in-the-face-of-evilA majority in America and it’s leadership continues to remain silent about this horrific humanitarian crisis, yet seem to throw to the forefront and champion every other cause they deem politically correct. But when it comes to persecuted Christians…silence.

It is amazing that a nation where the majority claim to be Christians, we are silent with a government apparently indifferent to persecuted Christians and mainly uninterested in coming to their aid.

Former U.S. Representative Frank Wolf, a voice for religious freedom and the persecuted warned that what is happening to Christians in the Middle East actually meets the United Nations definition of ‘genocide’ and it’s a disgrace we are not doing more for them.

(AINA) Former White House Chief of Staff John Sununu said in an interview on Sunday that President Obama seems to be “indifferent” to the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

During an appearance on “The Cats Roundtable,” a 970 radio show on AM 970 in New York, Sununu said Americans needs to keep pressuring their congressmen and senators to “talk some sense into the president.”

“It’s a tragedy what’s happening,” Sununu told host John Catsimatidis. “And I cannot believe that this administration, this president, does not understand that there is a concerted effort to destroy the Christian community in Iraq, the Christian community in Syria in particular, and they’re being slaughtered.”

Sununu, who comes from Greek Orthodox family with roots in the Middle East, said there are tens of thousands of Christians being killed.

“There seems to be an indifference in Washington to what is happening there,” he said. “These are not trivial numbers.”

Sununu served as New Hampshire’s 75th governor and White House chief of staff during the George W. Bush administration.

Here’s a snippet of a piece titled ‘Obama turns blind eye to violence against Christians’ written by John McCain in June,

Throughout the Middle East and North Africa today, Christianity is under attack.  Terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are destroying some of the oldest and most sacred Christian communities and relics in the world on the very lands where Christianity was born and first took root. They are committing brutal atrocities against Christian communities in Syria and Iraq, persecuting religious minorities and destroying entire towns and local economies. Christians are fleeing their homes in increasing numbers, creating an exploding refugee crisis that will have grave ramifications on the stability and security of the entire region. While the world has been rightly outraged by the violence waged by ISIS against people of all sects, ethnicities, and religions, the United States, Europe and other key allies have done little to end ISIS’s systematic efforts to drive-out and eradicate entire religious communities from their historic and sacred homelands. The Obama Administration has repeatedly refused to defend religious freedom abroad and continues to ignore its devastating cost to those religious communities targeted by terrorists because of their religious beliefs. Read More

In April, Kirsten Powers wrote,

“What do you call it when 12 men are drowned at sea for praying to Jesus? Answer: Religious persecution. Yet, when a throng of Muslims threw a dozen Christians overboard a migrant ship traveling from Libya to Italy, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi missed the opportunity to label it as such.” [Standing next to President Obama ] “As Renzi was questioned about the incident, Obama was mute on the killings. He failed to interject any sense of outrage or even tepid concern for the targeting of Christians for their faith. If a Christian mob on a ship bound for Italy threw 12 Muslims to their death for praying to Allah, does anyone think the president would have been so disinterested? When three North Carolina Muslims were gunned down by a virulent atheist, Obama rightly spoke out against the horrifying killings. But he just can’t seem to find any passion for the mass persecution of Middle Eastern Christians or the eradication of Christianity from its birthplace.” “Religious persecution of Christians is rampant worldwide, as Pew has noted, but nowhere is it more prevalent than in the Middle East and Northern Africa, where followers of Jesus are the targets of religious cleansing.”

“Western leaders — including Obama — will be remembered for their near silence as this human rights tragedy unfolded. The president’s mumblings about the atrocities visited upon Christians (usually extracted after public outcry over his silence) are few and far between. And it will be hard to forget his lecturing of Christians at the National Prayer Breakfast about the centuries-old Crusades while Middle Eastern Christians were at that moment being harassed, driven from their homes, tortured and murdered for their faith. In April, John Boehner wrote in ‘The Obama Administration’s Abysmal Record on Protecting Christians and Defending Human Rights’,

One year ago today, President Obama signed into law a bipartisan bill creating the position of Special Envoy to Promote Religious Freedom of Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia. But one year later, this State Department position remains unfilled. President Obama has still not found the time to nominate someone for the role. What’s taking so long? This isn’t the first time his administration has dragged its feet when it comes to protecting Christians and defending human rights and religious freedom around the world. For this White House, it simply isn’t a priority – despite the severity of the crisis. Read more

Michael Synder shared via The Washington Standard that Christians are being systematically purged from the U.S. military.

If you are a Bible-believing Christian, there is no place for you in Barack Obama’s version of the U.S. military. Christian service members all over the nation are being disciplined for reading their Bibles, talking about their faith publicly and encouraging others to live a moral lifestyle. And just saying the name of “Jesus” at the wrong place or the wrong time while serving in the military is enough to spark a national controversy.

We live at a time when political correctness in America is wildly out of control, and thanks to Obama the U.S. military has become one of the most politically correct institutions in our society. Things have gotten so bad that dozens of top officers that did not agree with Obama’s views have been forced out of the military in recent years. The U.S. military is being transformed into an overtly anti-Christian institution, and for those of us that are Christians that is a very chilling development. Read more

In an article that we shared on Monday, ‘No Excuse’ For Obama Failing to Protect Victims of ISIS’ Christian Genocide, Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley believes the U.S. government needs to be doing more to help protect the hundreds of thousands of victims of the Islamic State’s “genocide” of Christians in Iraq and Syria.

Time after time, we, along with many others have written to and called the White House for action and the procurement of Pastor Saeed Abedini’s release. He is an American citizen serving an 8 year sentence in a brutal Iranian prison for his Christian faith. During nuclear talks with Iran, in what may have been the only opportunity the U.S. had to negotiate his release, concession after concession was given as Saeed was pushed to the back burner. Explaining why the Americans being held illegally by Iran were not part of the talks/deal, an excuse was given that if they had been included, even more demands would have been made by the Iranian regime. WHAT? That’s the best you could do? It’s clear to see what side ruled at that negotiating table. Pastor Saeed continues to suffer greatly. We continue to pray for his release, health, endurance and faith to overcome.

A question keeps being raised here in this nation and across the globe, ‘Is America a Christian nation, or not?’

When Christians were celebrating Holy Week back on April 6, 2009, during a press conference with the president of Turkey, President Obama said, “Although as I mentioned, we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”

  1. The Christian is not helpless in this time of distress, but maybe misinformed about who is in charge.
Our citizenship is in heaven and we possess an authority in Christ that can set at bay many threats.
Gods people are perishing for lack of knowledge.

  2. The Christian is not helpless in this time of distress. Let us not forget that our citizenship is in heaven and that means our authority in Christ is greater than anything that the world can throw at us.

  3. He (Obama) is a Muslim and hates Christians, just like his father.
Muslims are encouraged to lie in an effort to destroy the enemy, thus his comments “America is no longer a Christian nation and I will stand with the Muslims” as well as Muslims now being in the highest places of American government and many more being brought in every day. A recent trip to my local 99 cent store was an eye opener for me.
Obama hates America and went to a “church” where the Pastor (Rev. Wright) said God dam* America.
We had better start speaking out about our suffering brothers and sisters or it will be us suffering in a world that has grown too cold to care.

  4. May The LORD GOD help and protect the Body of HIS Beloved SON+ against the plans and devices of Mystery Babylon and the “City of baal” that is called D.C.

  5. The Lord hears and knows the tears and fears of the persecuted North, South, East and West. He encompasses them with His strength and peace; he blankets them with His love and refreshes their souls and whispers His Word into their very spirits. The angels of the Lord surrounds them to keep watch over them in their trials and tribulations. We know not the extent of their trials and tribulations but God does. We as their brothers and sisters in Jesus humbly storm the the heavens with prayers before the Throne of God where our mediator Jesus Christ presents our prayers and His blessed Holy Spirit touches them that are suffering with the Word of God: ” I love you, I will strengthen you and comfort you nor will I ever leave you or forsake you.” Thank you Father for hearing our prayers and your Spirit of Truth which is your Word. In Jesus name. Amen
