What does it mean, separation of Church & State?  Liberals and Atheists seem to be great at screaming this from the rooftops when prayer is said at a public school, or Jesus’ name is mentioned in the public square.  But what does it mean for Christianity?  What does it mean for our freedoms to worship without interference from the State?  I’m sure everyone studied history and has heard of the Church of England, the Kings that ruled the church and vice versa.  I’m sure everyone has heard of King Henry the Vlll.  He broke the ties with the Church and State when the Catholic church refused to anull his marriage to his wife, and he made himself head of the  church.  And we know how it works in the middle east when the state declares a religion like Islam and Sharia law to be the state religion and the law of the land.  But what does it mean here in America?

The concept of separating church and state is often credited to the writings of English philosopher John Locke (1632–1704).  According to his principle of the social contract, Locke argued that the government lacked authority in the realm of individual conscience, as this was something rational people could not cede to the government for it or others to control. For Locke, this created a natural right in the liberty of conscience, which he argued must therefore remain protected from any government authority. These views on religious tolerance and the importance of individual conscience, along with his social contract, became particularly influential in the American colonies and the drafting of the United States Constitution.

This is purely conjecture on my part, and not aimed at the Roman Catholic Religion, but ever since Ancient Rome (Emperor Constantine) named Christianity as the state religion, many battles have been fought to remove the state from our freedom to worship.  In Ancient times, and medieval times the church was used as a means to control the populace, not to worship God.  And now it appears that the Western Government of the United States is about to issue a decree that all shall recognize homosexual marriage, regardless of religious beliefs.  This ruling if approved by the Supreme Court would recognize homosexual marriage across the country.

Many do not understand what comes with this ruling.  Church’s would be forced to perform homosexual marriages regardless of belief.  And I have one question and that is what of the Moslem population in the US, given that homosexual’s are stoned in the Islamic faith, what will that do to them?  All sorts of questions are raised over this red flag.  The law of the land.  The Government overreaching it’s bounds to control even our religious beliefs.  Imagine that.  They already control what we teach our children, children are subjected to other religious beliefs in school.  The only religion not allowed in our public school system is Christianity.  Children are taken to sex shops on a field trip, to educate on sex.  Same sex relationships are even studied and encouraged.  Homosexual and transgender restrooms and locker rooms are being installed in schools throughout the country.  Now we will be forced by law to deny our faith or face fines, jail or both.

Well one denomination is speaking out.  The Southern Baptists. According to the Baptist Press,  they released a statement in which they said this:  “Consequently, we will not accept, nor adhere to, any legal redefinition of marriage issued by any political or judicial body including the United States Supreme Court. We will not recognize same-sex “marriages”, our churches will not host same-sex ceremonies, and we will not perform such ceremonies.”

And CNN interviewed another pastor who said this:  “We want to help people, but we are not going to be forced by the government and society or the politically correct to say we are going to believe in it,” said Smothermon, senior pastor of Legacy Church in Albuquerque. “If they said, ‘Listen pastor, we are going to put you in jail if you don’t honor this.’ I am going to say, ‘Then put me in jail.’ ” (more)

I’m afraid I have to stand with these believers.  As much as I love all, even the homosexual.  I can not stand by while one group of people controls how others worship and what they believe.  Which brings us back to Separation from Church & State.

The Urban dictionary defines it as this:  separation of church and state. The seperation of church and state is implied in the 1st amendment with “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise therof.” This means that the state cannot force children to go to a public school or have a state based church.

So again, blatantly ignoring our Constitution the liberals of this country are in effect  stating  that the State or Congress or any branch of Government can prohibit us the free exercise of our religion.  I have said this many times, but the time is here.  IT’S TIME TO TAKE A STAND.  Stand firm in our Faith, and put on the armor of God.  For those in the Faith who remain silent on this and are caught up in New Age doctrine, Deitrich Bonhoffer said it best:

Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.
