Catholic Priest Kidnapped in Nigeria

This is being reported by media in Africa and the Fides.  The only information is that the Parish was indeed stormed by rebels, and they demanded a ransom using the phone from the priest.  The Church in Nigeria faces grave danger.  Please pray for the safe return of this Priest.  Pray for God to intervene, and to give him strength, courage and endurance.

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) – According to local media sources, a Nigerian priest, Don Innocent Umor, was abducted from his parish in Ikanepo, in the diocese of Idah, in Kogi State, in central southern Nigeria. The fact happened in the early morning of May 4, when five armed men, according to the information spread by the media, attacked the parish house where the priest was sleeping. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 4 million Naira (about $ 20,000). Police declared that an investigation is underway. (L.M.)
