In part one we have learned of the great gulf which separates those who chose to do the will of God and those who chose their own will. We see this great gulf mystery of what happens at death, but is that all there is? That a person dies and remains on one side or the other? Certainly not! When we pass away from this life it is known as the first death. At the return of Christ many generations will have come and gone, but it is in the thousand year millenium that those who did the will of God will reign and be part of the first resurrection and the second death as its called will have no power over them for they have overcome in their life by the blood of the Lamb.(Revelation 20:5,6). But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Some say it is not fair and this looks as a second chance at the time of the millenium, but we need to seriously consider at this time satan is bound and has no power to deceive anyone. (Revelation 20:1,2). Take a look at the world today we see children have no guidance from the bible as prayer has been taken out of our schools, this is not the children’s fault! The real concern will be when satan is loosed for a short time after the millenium and sadly some will still choose evil and wickedness over God. It is at the great white throne judgment that the rest of the dead from the other side of the gulf will be judged according to their works. (Revelation 20:11-13). And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
After every attempt to save mankind our gracious and loving God is left with no choice but to cast some who flat out do not love him into the lake of fire which is known as the second death! (Revelation 20:14,15). And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
