The Misunderstanding Of The Sacrifice Made By Our Lord & Savior

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Phillipians 3:10

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Phillipians 3:10

When Jesus said “there is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends”  did he mean we are to kill in His name?  This is what some are saying.  Again we find man taking one verse from our precious Lord’s instructions and consolations to His disciples on the eve of His arrest and sacrifice and twisting it.  Jesus spent the evening before His arrest consoling and instructing His disciples what would transpire, even showing them what He was and who sent Him.  He taught them humility by washing their feet.  He taught them love by fulfilling scripture.  He taught them who they were, that they were part of the vine coming through Jesus from the Father.  He taught them this:

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.

He also taught them what their future would be:

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.  Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.  But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

This is the last time the Savior spent with His beloved disciples.  And He was worried about them and us.  True followers of Christ understand this message.  True followers of Christ understand the gift given them.  True followers of Christ know that no mere man can come close to the sacrifice made by our Father.  Even Peter recognized this as they crucified him, he demanded they hang him upside down so as not to diminish or compare to what our Lord endured.  All of the blessed Apostles were killed and martyred.  All except John who after his exile to Patmos died a natural death.  John was boiled in oil, &  exiled to Patmos.  Jesus said ‘Let not your heart be troubled.’  ‘These things I tell you ahead of time so you will not be led astray.’  So why are so many being led astray today.  Why are there calls for revenge, why are there calls for vengeance, when our Father say’s ‘Vengeance is mine.’  Why did Jesus teach us to pray the Lord’s prayer and so few truly understand what it means?

‘Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven’  So few truly understand the Glory in this statement.  Our Father’s will be done on earth as in Heaven.  His kingdom will not be brought on by man or man’s actions.  Is it our Father’s will to kill in the name of Christ?  This is dark theology.  It’s not God’s will or word.  His will is to shed light to the world and win souls.  We will not win souls through helping to spread hatred, only Love, as Jesus tells us.

One religion’s prophet say’s to kill all infidels and follows a barbaric form of law that demands, beheading, stoning, burning alive, chopping off hands and feet, and crucifixion and hanging.  It sanctions rape and torture, and slavery.  States to kill all unbelievers.   One religions prophet and Savior commands love for fellow men. He commands that we go and baptize all in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.   Which is true?  When you say that it’s ok to call for militias in the name of Christ it’s no different than those crying ‘Allah Akbar’ before each murder.

We are doing the persecuted, nor the persecutor any good by calling for hate and vengeance.  Protect yourself, yes, call for a world wide holy war, or encourage all to travel to foreign countries to kill in the name of religion, No.

More than ever the lost of the world are asking ‘Who is this Jesus’?  The world is watching Christians right now, as hundreds of thousands are martyred.  What will we as the Body of Christ show the world?  Hatred or Love as  Jesus commanded us?

  1. Amen Sister! The world is watching just who and what Christians really are. Hopefully they will be shown TRUTH+ and not another confusing lie, from him who is the author of both confusion and lies.
