3 HE+ is despised and rejected of men; a Man of Sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from HIM+; HE+ was despised, and we esteemed HIM+ not.
4 Surely HE+ hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem HIM+ stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But HE+ was wounded for our transgressions, HE+ was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon HIM+; and with HIS+ stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on HIM+ the iniquity of us all.
Why was our LORD+ a Man of Sorrows?
Why did HE+ have grief?
HE+ was made flesh for our sake and was born into a Jewish family under the old covenant, to a Hebrew virgin Miriam and HIS+ guardian Joseph, a family of the common Jewish people (Hebrew: am-ha-eretz).
Why would there be exceptional grief and sorrow in living a normal, daily existence?
A Jewish young man’s life in learning the carpenter’s skills in a small Jewish town. would be rather normal, it would seem.
However, this was NOT a normal young man. From the beginning HE+ knew that HE+ must be about HIS+ Father’s business, HIS+ FATHER’S work.
HE+ could see from the first, with Divine eyes, a race of beings that HE+ HIMSELF had formed in the beginning.
HE+ could see their hurts, their grief, their perplexity, their need of help in being set free from the chains that held them bound to the father of lies.
But HE+ had made them with a free will, with the power to choose which way they would go, who they would serve.
HE+ knew that HE+ could not help them, could not set them free, unless they would ask HIM+ to do so. HE+ could see this in every part of the fabric of their lives, in their living and in their dying.
Seeing all this, HE+ was indeed
a Man+ of Sorrows.
( As a side note: It was common knowledge among the most ancient Christians of the first two to three centuries, that our LORD+ aged prematurely, and was taken for someone 10 to 15 years older than HIS+ actual age.
The religious leaders, when accusing HIM+ and trying to find fault in HIM+ because of HIS+ relative youth, said, “You are not yet fifty years old ,” instead of ” You are not yet forty years old” … as was truly the case ( John 8:57 ).
HE+ was the SIN-BEARER, and the weight of the world’s sin was already pressing down upon HIM+. HE+ was aware of it in every fiber of HIS+ united Being, The Eternal Word made flesh, to rescue HIS+ children.
HE+ was totally about HIS+ FATHER’S business.
At the death of His+ friend Lazarus, as HE+ went to Mary and Martha, HE+ grieved in HIS+ Spirit and wept with them. Death did not have to be. It was here among the children of Adam by choice.
HE+ came to rescue them from the fear of death.
JESUS wept for all of the family of Adam, all who were chained by death and sorrow, past, present, and future.
But the Deliverer was there with them!
As HE+ showed them immediately:
“I AM the Resurrection and the Life.”
And to dead Lazarus, HE+ said, ( in the literal Greek )
“ Lazarus, HERE, OUTSIDE ! ”
And Lazarus came out, called by the Voice of HIM+ Who IS Life Itself !
What can we do to assuage our LORD’S sorrow and grief over a lost human race? It is HIS+ desire for all to come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth.
What can we do for HIM+… seeing that HE+ has done so much for us and loved us so deeply?
HE+ said, “If you love me, keep my commandments,” and HE+ said, “Most assuredly I say unto you, if a man keeps MY+ saying he shall never see death ( John 8:51 ).” To keep HIS+ Word honors HIM+ and lifts HIM+ up before others, so that they might see and come to The Life.
For the JOY that was set before HIM+ HE+ endured the Cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right Hand of the Throne of GOD. (Hebrews 12:2)
The Eternal Word of GOD made Flesh placed HIMSELF+ between the Adamic race and the enemy, the adversary, the father of lies, and stood HIS+ ground for our sakes.
In doing this HE+ was wounded, HE+ went down in battle, and HE+ died for our sakes as The LAMB of GOD, to Deliver us from eternal death.
HE+ did this for all who choose to come to HIM+ in repentance and in truth.
But in Eternal STRENGTH,
HE+ did NOT remain dead.
Death could NOT hold HIM+
HE+ came forth from the tomb after 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.
HE+ remained with HIS+ disciples, HIS+ called out ones, for 40 days and 40 nights … coming and going among them, teaching them those things concerning the Kingdom of GOD, and opening up to them the Scriptures concerning HIMSELF+.
Since in the beginning a man had lost the earth to the serpent satan, an actual Man had to TAKE IT BACK!
And HE+ DID!
It is written in the prophetic Genesis account that the serpent would bruise HIS+ heel, but that HE+ would bruise the serpent’s head. (Hebrew: bruise = to trample upon).
Which HE+ DID!
As the RISEN MAN+ of Eternal strength, HE+ BROKE the kingdom of death and darkness and scattered the satanic minions in terror.
HE+ with HIS+ Own Body and Blood made the way clear for all who choose to do so, to return to HIS+ Eternal GOD and FATHER, and regain what was lost so long ago.
A man, the first Adam, lost the Kingdom, but The MAN+ Who came forth from the Bosom of HIS+ FATHER took it back … in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS !
The SECOND ADAM+ took it back for all of us who will come to HIM+. For the joy that was set before HIM+ …. HE+ did not STAY a man of sorrows.
Because HE+ beat the serpent satan and his minions as an actual man, we can beat the serpent also … THROUGH HIM+ … in the Strength of the Blessed HOLY SPIRIT, as we stay united with HIM+.
In the near future we will see HIM+ call HIS+ Children forth to HIMSELF+, and we will see HIM+ finish HIS+ work of crushing the serpent’s head.
As HE+ …
- destroys the armies of the anti-christ, and
- destroys the last of the anti-christ kingdom, and
- binds the lying adversary and his lying cohorts and places them into the abyss for the Thousand years…
we will be with HIM+, alongside HIM+, beholding these events.
Though HE+ was Crucified for our sakes in seeming weakness, yet HE+ AROSE and still LIVES by the Eternal STRENGTH and POWER of HIS+ … and our … Heavenly FATHER.
What great sorrow,
What great Strength,
What UNFATHOMABLE LOVE !
Heavenly FATHER, please help us to return to YOU this gift of supernatural LOVE, and lay our lives at the feet of Your Precious SON, Your Eternal WORD+ Who+ was made flesh for our sakes, to deliver us from death and darkness and bring us into Eternal Life with YOU in Your Kingdom.
Heavenly FATHER,
We thank you with all of our
heart, soul, mind, and strength,
Through The Beloved JESUS CHRIST our LORD,
Who+ is at your Right Hand.
WE AWAIT HIS+ COMING FORTH FROM THERE
… In Power and great Glory !
