“When you fast”……..

Every word that our LORD+ said has multi-layered depth and meaning for us as HIS+ disciples.

JESUS said at one point, when giving instructions to HIS+ disciples, “When you fast…”

HE+ did NOT SAY ” IF,” simply because it was a given that they would indeed fast. At one point the religious leaders were chiding HIM+ because HIS+ disciples did not fast as the Pharisees or John Baptist’s disciples did. JESUS answered that when the BRIDEGROOM+ was taken from them, they would fast in those days.

Why would the followers of the SON+ of GOD fast?

They knew that everything HE+ said had — and would — come to pass. They had seen this happen first hand, over and over. As their sorrow passed, after watching HIM+ die so cruelly, then joy overwhelmed them when they saw HIM+ alive again, and talked to HIM+ after HIS+ Resurrection, why would they then fast? HE+ was alive! Why fast then ?

However, JESUS knew what was coming.

The fierceness of the attack against HIS+ followers was just beginning. They would fast for Spiritual discernment, to empower their life of prayer, to keep their flesh in subjection to the Spirit, and to stay close to their Risen LORD and SAVIOR.

We are taught from the Apostles’ writings that the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of GOD ( Ephesians 6 ). This Word is not ink on paper, but is Alive and Living, and is sharper than ANY two-edged sword.

Yes, the ink on paper that we call our Bible contains the messages and teachings that The Living Word+ of GOD spoke to us and are recorded for our benefit. And yes, it is a blessing and a MIRACLE that we still have the Scriptures because satan has sought to destroy the Scriptures for many centuries.

The ancient Christians did not have Bibles as we do today, but still for them as for us, the Sword of the HOLY SPIRIT is The Living Word+ of GOD.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful,

and sharper than any two-edged sword,

piercing even to the dividing asunder

of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,

and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

So, as mentioned at the beginning, why would we fast today?

Fasting in conjunction with anointed prayer

“whets”

the Sword of the Spirit.

The Sword of the Spirit not only cuts in two, soul and spirit, joints and marrow, discerning the thoughts and intents of hearts, but it also slashes unseen evil entities, stops their lying plans, demolishes wicked strongholds, and sends terror into the “enemy” camp.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal,

but are mighty through GOD!

Remember, The Living WORD+ of GOD is the Sword of the SPIRIT, the Sword of The LORD YHWH. With this Sword the followers of CHRIST our LORD can put to flight the lying adversary and send terror after him and his minions in the Name of JESUS our LORD and our LIFE.

The combination of prayer and fasting

unite body, soul, and spirit

in one joint effort of prayer and intercession.

The Sword of the SPIRIT becomes a flaming spiritual weapon in the hands of the followers of HIM+ Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It is a weapon that has been largely forgotten or ignored by the modern church organization.

Let us learn to use it and to become “skilled” with it, by HIS+ Grace. Only His+ Disciples can wield this Sword of the SPIRIT. It is totally a supernatural weapon.

Through the Name of our LORD JESUS, by the Strength of HIS+ broken BODY and shed BLOOD, may we overcome as HE+ overcame. Rev. 3:21.

HE+ is Alive for ever, and is coming to this earth to take HIS+ own to HIS+ bosom, and to utterly destroy the darkness that covers the earth at this time.

Amen. Even so, come LORD+ JESUS.
