Total Reliance upon God
Setting our hand to the plow and not looking back and only looking forward in faith will move any mountain in life! It took a strong faith for Moses to totally rely on God when he was sent before Pharoah, yet he went and freed the Israelites from bondage. “Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt”(Exodus 12:40,41)
We see it was not an immediate freeing God performed of the bondage the people endured and we too when going through the wilderness of our lives need to remember it is the going through hard times that is refining us for God’s purpose and glory.
It took a strong faith for Joshua and Caleb to say they were able to go to the promised land and move forward after the spies sent out said there were giants and a stronger people and it would’nt be a good idea. “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight”.(Numbers 13:30-33).
Alot of times we need to step out in faith to see the bigger picture God wants us to see, and many times that is an isolated solemn journey through a wilderness!……………
The bread of life (Spiritual Food + Christ) gives one a more eduring strength than any physical food we could eat. It is never a pleasant thing to be chastened by the Lord, Yet it is out of Love he choose’s to do so with his children. When we are tried in this life to our limits we are being tried of God to see what we’re made of as he gently and at times strongly guides his children closer to him in faithfulness! He proved the Israelites the same way as he still does today. “And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chaseneth thee”.
