There are many massive storms crossing over the land, and in the loss of lives and sentimental treasures we have to ask where is God in all this devastation? Is this really his plan for mankind? How can a loving God take away what we hold dear and the life of loved ones? Where is God in all this? What does scripture tell us about the weather anyways! As people lightly esteme God and his awesome power by belittling him as some say mother nature, it is God on his throne doing as he always has and that is causing his will to be done in the earth and not our own. Nothing takes us down more than the deep grief of a loved one, yet it is a needful time to stop and contemplate and seek God for the answers. Is God the weather? What is his part in all this? Job questioned God many times over things he had no answer for! “Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wonderous works of God”.(Job 37:11-14).
Just as we walk across the land and kick up dust by our feet as we walk, God who walks above us does the same as we read that the clouds are the dust of his feet. “The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all aquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him”.(Nahum 1:3,5-7).
We are told in revelation that the world as we know it with the massive amounts of water of the oceans and lakes will one day be no more, for the sea will cease from being and there will be more land for God’s people to dwell in as he brings his new earth and heaven called “New Jerusalem” as a bride adorned for her husband down to us! “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”.(Revelation 21:1-4).
Now is the time for repentance and turning to the one true God who loves his children and are willing to serve him out of a true heart for him and his will. He is our shield and buckler in times of trouble. He will never leave us nor forsake us! He holds us in the palm of his hand are we are the apple of his eye!
