“The Past Is Past”
When we come to Christ through repentance sometimes we forget to let go of all the baggage we should. Maybe it is easier understood like this that God said he would remove our sins as far as the east is from the west and to put him in remembrance they are all blotted out so he can then justify us. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us”.(Psalm 103:12). If God says he will not remember our sins any longer then why should we? To not forgive ourselves is to be still living under the guilt satan likes to place over us to keep us defeated. We are not defeated in the arms of God! “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.(Isaiah 1:18). “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified”.(Isaiah 43:25,26).
Do not give place to the devil by not leaving what God has put in the past as blotted out forever, because blotted out means: To wipe out totally, To Destroy, No Longer Significant, To Make Obscure. This is the beautiful gift given us straight from heaven and to keep remembering is to say Christ didn’t accomplish the work he came to do at the cross. “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile”.
Lets stop beating ourselves up and cling to the whole reason our Saviour came here to do, and that is to remove all guilt of sin and to turn and worship a holy and just God! The new Jerusalem will not be built on false promises, But a land of eternal joy through the people who now serve the God of all creation. “That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying”. (Isaiah 65:16-19).
