No secret raptures, no secret comings for special people. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Paul and the Apostles with Him had just had a very trying day. They were speaking in Lystra where there was a temple of zeus. The people thought the miracle that Paul had performed came from zeus and the other pagan gods. When they rebuked them they stoned Paul and left him for dead. After Paul got up he said:
(Acts 14:22) “strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”
So does the theory that the Apostles thought they would be raptured really hold water?
On the eve of His arrest after the meal he had with the disciples Jesus prayed. He said:
(John 17:15) “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”
So when Jesus said pray that you can escape these things that are about to happen, did he really mean there would be a secret rapture? Two second comings of the King of Kings? Or did he warn us that we should live our lives ready and willing to overcome, and pray for protection?
Even the Pope is warning of the coming tribulation for all Christians. Read here.
Revelation 1:7 Behold He is coming with clouds, and every eye shall see Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Matthew 24:29-30 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Acts 1:10-11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.
Revelation 3:10-11 Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and I will write on him My new name. He who has an ear to hear, let him hear.
We have many promises from Christ to keep us from the hour of trial, He will be with us. Make no mistake, His light will surround us, but we must be strong, we must be ready, we must endure to the end, and persevere.
I could go on and on with verses about the Second Coming of Christ, but just know this, He is coming soon and His coming will be like a thief in the night, catching many unaware. But even the Apostle Paul’s verse so many say prove a secret and second, second coming proves nothing except what he was trying to explain to the Jews who didn’t understand how we could die and be with the Lord. And when he was describing our being caught up to meet the Lord, say’s this:
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
And then finally we have this: Revelation 7 9-17 (And remember this is fitting considering that 7 represents completeness in the Bible)
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
One last thing, if you are studying earnestly or have read much here, you will know that the seals and the trumpets run concurrently, not separately. Now in Revelation Chapter 8:1-3 gives us a picture of the Saints (us) prayers going before God. It say’s this:
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
I encourage you to study earnestly like the Bereans, pray, and most of all prepare for the tribulation that is coming! Don’t wait to turn to Jesus the Messiah, do it now while He can still be found!
