“I went at your bidding, and passed along their thoroughfares of trade. I ascended their mountains and went down their valleys. I visited their manufactories, their commercial markets, and emporiums of trade. I entered their judicial courts and legislative halls. But I sought everywhere in vain for the secret of their success, until I entered the church. It was there, as I listened to the soul-equalizing and soul-elevating principles of the Gospel of Christ, as they fell from Sabbath to Sabbath upon the masses of the people, that I learned why America was great and free, and why France was a slave.” – Alexis de Tocqueville, French historian reporting to the French Senate, 1800s
A few years before Dr. D. James Kennedy passed away, I spent an afternoon with him at his church in Florida. Dr. Kennedy is the founder of world-renown Coral Ridge Ministries, known for stating on national television regarding abortion (while pointing his finger at his viewers), “Four thousand die daily and 300,000 pulpits are silent.”
On one occasion, Dr. Kennedy told me that while he was holding a large convention at his church, the homosexual lobby was protesting him.
A pastor attending the convention was shocked and asked, “Why is your church being protested?”
D. James Kennedy corrected this pastor with a relevant question: “You mean, your church doesn’t get protested?”
Friends, protestant has meaning: protest – ant.
America is looking for the Christ that 78 percent of Americans claim they serve.
Agree or disagree with him, Rev. Charles Finney stated:
“Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.”
How deprived is the understanding of the modern church when it comes to its own history!
Nowadays, effeminate hirelings have infiltrated the pulpits – pulpits they have no business occupying.
By the looks of them, I can see why the enemies of America are so encouraged. Instead of preaching against sin (transgression of God’s Law – 1 John 3:4), these hirelings accept sin, attempting to cover it with a false grace (Isaiah 30) – and in so doing, teach their congregants to war against a just and holy God (Micah 3:5).
What a contrast to the preachers who thundered from America’s pulpits before, during and after the Revolutionary War, causing the colonists to stand up in the face of tyranny. The British labeled them as the much-feared “Black Robed Regiment.” The British were not the only ones who recognized them as the bulwarks of America’s Independence:
“Mighty men they were, of iron nerve and strong hand and unblanched cheek and heart of flame. God needed not reeds shaken by the wind, not men clothed in soft raiment [Matthew 11:7-8], but heroes of hardihood and lofty courage. … And such were the sons of the mighty who responded to the Divine call.” –Bishop Charles Galloway, 1898
“The ministers of the Revolution were, like their Puritan predecessors, bold and fearless in the cause of their country. No class of men contributed more to carry forward the Revolution and to achieve our independence than did the ministers. … [B]y their prayers, patriotic sermons, and services [they] rendered the highest assistance to the civil government, the army, and the country.” – Historian B. F. Morris, 1864
“The Constitutional Convention and the written Constitution were the children of the pulpit.” –Historian Alice Baldwin, 1918
Today the professed church is attempting to flee from its responsibility to be part of the political process when in fact God is the one who gave government (Exodus 18:21). The church is to overcome evil with good. And as our forefathers rightly stated, “Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.”
Let’s look at the primitive church’s actions through Scripture so we can reform and align ourselves with God’s original intent for the church. And surprise, surprise – guess who they were standing against?

PRETRIB RAPTURE STEALTH !
Many evangelicals believe that Christ will “rapture” them to heaven years before the second coming and (most importantly) well BEFORE Antichrist and his “tribulation.” But Acts 2:34, 35 reveal that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand in heaven until He leaves to destroy His earthly foes at the second coming. And Acts 3:21 says that Jesus “must” stay in heaven with the Father “until the times of restitution of all things” which includes, says Scofield, “the restoration of the theocracy under David’s Son” which obviously can’t begin before or during Antichrist’s reign. (“The Rapture Question,” by the long time No. 1 pretrib authority John Walvoord, didn’t dare to even list, in its scripture index, the above verses! They were also too hot for John Darby – the so-called “father of dispensationalism” – to list in the scripture index in his “Letters”!)
Paul explains the “times and the seasons” (I Thess. 5:1) of the catching up (I Thess. 4:17) as the “day of the Lord” (5:2) which FOLLOWS the posttrib sun/moon darkening (Matt. 24:29; Acts 2:20) WHEN “sudden destruction” (5:3) of the wicked occurs! The “rest” for “all them that believe” is also tied to such destruction in II Thess. 1:6-10! (If the wicked are destroyed before or during the trib, who’d be left alive to serve the Antichrist?) Paul also ties the change-into-immortality “rapture” (I Cor. 15:52) to the end of trib “death” (15:54). (Will death be ended before or during the trib? Of course not! And vs. 54 is also tied to Isa. 25:8 which Scofield views as Israel’s posttrib resurrection!) It’s amazing that the Olivet Discourse contains the “great commission” for the church but not even a hint of a pretrib rapture for the church!
Many don’t know that before 1830 all Christians had always viewed I Thess. 4’s “catching up” as an integral part of the final second coming to earth. In 1830 this “rapture” was stretched forward and turned into an idolized separate coming of Christ. To further strengthen their novel view, which evangelical scholars overwhelmingly rejected throughout the 1800s, pretrib teachers in the early 1900s began to stretch forward the “day of the Lord” (what Darby and Scofield never dared to do) and hook it up with their already-stretched-forward “rapture.” Many leading evangelical scholars still weren’t convinced of pretrib, so pretrib teachers then began teaching that the “falling away” of II Thess. 2:3 is really a pretrib rapture (the same as saying that the “rapture” in 2:3 must happen before the “rapture” [“gathering”] in 2:1 can happen – the height of desperation!). Google “Walvoord Melts Ice” for more on this.
Other Google articles on the 183-year-old pretrib rapture view include “X-Raying Margaret,” “Margaret Macdonald’s Rapture Chart,” “Pretrib Rapture’s Missing Lines,” “Edward Irving is Unnerving,” “The Unoriginal John Darby,” “Catholics Did NOT Invent the Rapture,” “The Real Manuel Lacunza,” “Thomas Ice (Bloopers),” “Wily Jeffrey,” “The Rapture Index (Mad Theology),” “America’s Pretrib Rapture Traffickers,” “Roots of (Warlike) Christian Zionism,” “Scholars Weigh My Research,” “Pretrib Hypocrisy,” “Appendix F: Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Pretrib Rapture Secrecy,” “Deceiving and Being Deceived,” “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty,” “Famous Rapture Watchers,” and “Morgan Edwards’ Rapture View” – most by the author of the bestselling book “The Rapture Plot” (the most accurate and documented book on pretrib rapture history which is obtainable by calling 800.643.4645).
[Hi Bradlee. Wonderful blog. The above was recently observed on the amazing web.]

The last sentence contradicted her previous brave words: “Hopefully we will all get a Pre-trib rapture so we won’t have to deal with camp FEMA and Satan’s sodomite enforcers.”

Very true Albert, but maybe we can hope that they are right, but we all know it’s time to prepare, for we are here through some very rough tribulation. I liked the article you sent me this morning when they said which position pre trib or post trib would help the reader to prepare most for what’s coming? That’s a question we need to ask, as we try to prepare those asleep or lost. It’s that ‘we won’t be here for the tribulation so this isn’t it.’ Attitude that got us in the mess we’re in. Just sayin….. Thanks Albert for your very watchful eye! Your a dear friend.

Powerful message! Have no doubt that the eyes of God are roaming this earth right now to seek and bless those who truly stand for his truth despite the consequence and in spite of opposition! This nation is under judgment because good people stood by and did nothing as evil took root.

Yes Marianne, your words are very true and right on! I still can’t believe after all that’s happened, and the church is silent on all these issues, or even calling evil good. Maranatha!

Amazingly beautiful and well said with a patriotic interpretation of scripture. I wish more Christians had the backbone of this presenter. Christians are not cowards, we are the salt of the earth, we are to live peacefully with our neighbors and share the gospel about our blessed hope. We are not ordered to submit to evil and evil men who lie and deceive. Prayer warriors keep praying for America and for the salvation of those that have been deceived by Satan’s world system.

This is a brilliant post. I have long worried that the Liberal seminaries were churning out pastors that would preach Romans 13 to their flock as they boarded their members onto buses for camp FEMA. It is a perversion to think that we are to blindly follow evil like there is some type of legal loophole that entraps the conscience of a Bible believing Christian. There is the real case of a government of individuals who have broken their pledges and oaths to uphold the Constitution. They broke the contract! They don’t follow the law! They are trying to implement tyranny on a law abiding population. Christians are not ordered to be stupid and following liberal seminarians in the pursuit of compromise is wrong. Hopefully we will all get a Pre-trib rapture so we won’t have to deal with camp FEMA and Satan’s sodomite enforcers.
