I am a chrisian and i attend the catholic church. I dont agree with some of the believes in this church but i dont know what to do since my whole family are catholics and nobody else seems worried but me. How can i get out of it or can i still worship God in this church since salvation is a personal relationship with God and not a religion or denomination? I fell like there is idolatry in this church especially tha hail mary prayer that i dont even recite when everyone is doing so. Please help me an confused.
Hello Doris, I have been sorting through this very question for a long time. I have many friends and family who are Catholic. Their faith in Christ is immeasurable. When we talk, they understand that some of the practices of the Catholic church appear to be idolotry, that said, many, many churches today are guilty of this. Their idols are money, fame and fortune. God is calling His children together, and the Holy Spirit is guiding many into truth. I don’t practice Catholocism, so it’s hard for me to answer some questions. I do know that Jesus told us, ‘Do not call anyone on earth Father, your Father is in Heaven.’ (Matthew 23:9) I know that we are to make no graven images to worship. That’s in the commandments. I have issue with a man announcing himself to be the ‘Vicar of Christ’ and a descendant of Peter. I have problem with a man telling me His interpretation of Doctrine and Scripture is the only way to believe. I have a problem with those who have visions and claim they come from God yet those visions clearly deviate from Scripture taught in the New Testament. I have a problem with any church (& the Lutherans do this too) that denies sacraments such as communion to anyone. Jesus did not teach this. The Apostles did not teach this. Jesus said ‘Do this in remembrance of me.’ The Apostles taught to examine your soul and not to take this lightly, in other words repentance is a part of this, but no man can deny this. I have a problem with the wine, and bread actually turning into the blood and body of Christ. Jesus did say ‘Drink from it, all of you, this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Then he went on to say He would not drink of ‘this fruit of the vine’ until he drank it new with us in Heaven. Jesus knew that the wine was a symbol of His blood, a symbol, not His blood. Same with the bread. I have trouble with saying the Rosary not because it’s a prayer to Mary, part of it is actually in the New Testament. In Luke when Mary visited Elizabeth and the Child (John) she was carrying ‘Leapt in her womb’ Elizabeth exclaimed: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. (Luke 1:42) But the rosary was given to the church through a vision of Mary: There are differing views on the history of the rosary. According to tradition, the concept of the rosary was given to Saint Dominic in an apparition by the Virgin Mary in the year 1214 in the church of Prouille. This Marian apparition received the title of Our Lady of the Rosary.(Wikipedia) The Catholic Encyclopedia say’s the same thing. “According to tradition the devotion of the Rosary was spread by St. Dominic in the thirteenth Century.” Do I believe they are going to hell, no I don’t. I do believe that they (the catholic church) will be judged for some of their practices. They are almost the only ones standing up for Life, and freedom to worship. I know many priests, many who are men of God. I take heat for stating that, but I do. I don’t judge their heart. But we are told to judge right from wrong, erroneous doctrine from true doctrine. I would say the Holy Spirit is convicting your heart, keep your eyes focused on Jesus and listen to what the Spirit is guiding you into. I know that in the end, there will be a religious system, mixed with Government that will rule the world. I don’t necessarily believe that the beast out of the earth is the Catholic church, I don’t think the ‘whore of Babylon’ is just the Catholic church, I think it’s a mixture much like the Pope and other Christian leaders are trying to form, with Chrislam. Time will tell, I do know that Jesus commands us to come out of the world and man’s traditions. He commands this very strong in Revelation 18:4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; I have a slide of Daniel’s interpretation of the Statue in Nebedchenezzer’s dream that I do find very interesting. I am unable to copy and paste it here, but I will try to post it. It describes the legs as split of course, and one leg as Islam and the other as the the Vatican. It describes the feet of iron and clay as a mixture of this religion and government and it will not stand. I worry about people following a preist, pope or man to the point of blindness. For instance if the Pope said, Jesus is here with me, and he wants to correct some myths about him that were in the Bible, How many would fall and worship this false christ? That’s what worries me, this blind devotion to a man, like the pope. I mean no disrespect but even the Angels when John tried to bow to them said ‘I am just a servant like you.’ I have problems with kissing a ring of a man, and bowing to a man instead of Christ. That’s what worries me, that’s what I warn about, follow Christ, and the Holy Spirit not a man-made tradition, or a man. You don’t have to be confused, just know that God is speaking to you. And yes, salvation rests in the Lord, not in a confessional booth. Man needs no intercessor here on Earth. Jesus is our only intersessor, and we are guided to Him by the Holy Spirit. The Lord’s prayer was given to us by Jesus, it covers everything, even our sins. This is how we are to pray. I hope I didn’t confuse you even more. Pray, seek the Holy Spirit and His guidance, you will know what to do. If God is calling you out of this belief than get with other Christians who are worshiping, strengthen you Faith, I will keep you in my prayers. If you have any other questions let me know.
