So Is The Rapture In The Bible?

Do you know where the theory of the Secret Rapture of the Church comes from?

Let me introduce you to John Nelson Darby.

English: John Nelson Darby (1800-1882)

English: John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

He lived from 1800-1882.  He was an evangelist, who had ties to the Plymouth Brethren.  He is the father of Dispensationalism, futurism and the Secret Rapture theory.  He was well educated, and made a name for himself by converting or convincing Catholics to leave the Catholic Church.  Now get this, He had an accident where he fell from a horse in 1827, with a resulting in serious  injury.  It was here where he decided that the Kingdom spoken of in Isaiah was not the same as the ‘Church’.  It’s what happens next that I find very, very  interesting.  You would think that someone as educated as Darby would know that any form of divination or speaking with spirits of the dead is clearly forbidden in the Bible!  It is not from God, but from Satan,  we are warned of this in my scriptures.  Anyway, read the following very careful:

It was in 1830 when he heard of the Pri-Tribulation doctrine. It happened when he attended a seance’ conducted by a witch/occultist by the name of Margaret McDonald. It was during one of her trances where she supposedly heard from the dead that The Church would be raptured up prior to the Great Tribulation. Something contrary to biblical writings or teachings. It was considered heresy and John Darby was consequently excommunicated.

HELLO!  He continued to develop this theory,  even spreading views on Israel, and attempting to divide God’s word into catagories for Israel and catagories for the church.   I’m not as learned as a scholar, but I believe this is where your 2 covenant theories come from also.  His teachings was made popular in the US by the Scofield reference Bible.  I study a Bible that has references to verses and other similar scriptures, but studying a reference Bible that clearly gives a man’s opinion instead of scripture or God’s word, is a dangerous practice.  I will have to admit, I used to use these types of Bible’s, until the Holy Spirit led me to understand that this was not His word, but a man’s interpretation of His word, and if you trace it back you can see it came from a man who attended a séance where a woman talked to the dead.  Please search the scriptures for yourself.  This does matter.    It is a dangerous teaching as it leads to a certain type of  behavior that is very dangerous.

I am bringing this because I am truly worried about the Body of Christ.  I worry that people will follow this teaching into the beast kingdom and in so doing will follow him into the pit.  I am bringing a video from a man who taught me so much about this through His Book ‘The Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church.’  Now I had already studied for 3 years the rapture theories and God had led me to believe that the rapture would not happen the way it was being taught.  To be perfectly honest, a major televangelist started me on this quest, because even with all his fancy charts, and a way to speak to bring you to your feet, I knew something wasn’t right.  Something was very wrong.  His charts showed things, that I couldn’t find in the scripture.  It took about 3 years of earnest study and prayer, but I came to the conclusion this man was dangerous.  Then l was at a garage sale and found this book.  This book was helpful and confirming what the spirit was telling me, through scripture and prayer.  Watch, pray and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit.  But prepare your hearts, your minds and bodies for the tribulation that is beginning, keep watching, and looking up, for our redemption is drawing near.

What we have is a major case of mans tradition. If we follow what man says, and not Gods word,we will surely error in our thinking. All you have to do is ask God your heavenly father for the truth. The truth will set you free. The question is do you want the truth? Ask, he is faithful and true. When I studied for myself, and not what someone else come up with, I found many subjects had errors in them. Remember the truth will set you free!! Thanks, Mike

  2. PRETRIB RAPTURE STEALTH !

Many evangelicals believe that Christ will “rapture” them to heaven years before the second coming and (most importantly) well BEFORE Antichrist and his “tribulation.” But Acts 2:34, 35 reveal that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand in heaven until He leaves to destroy His earthly foes at the second coming. And Acts 3:21 says that Jesus “must” stay in heaven with the Father “until the times of restitution of all things” which includes, says Scofield, “the restoration of the theocracy under David’s Son” which obviously can’t begin before or during Antichrist’s reign. (“The Rapture Question,” by the long time No. 1 pretrib authority John Walvoord, didn’t dare to even list, in its scripture index, the above verses! They were also too hot for John Darby – the so-called “father of dispensationalism” – to list in the scripture index in his “Letters”!)
Paul explains the “times and the seasons” (I Thess. 5:1) of the catching up (I Thess. 4:17) as the “day of the Lord” (5:2) which FOLLOWS the posttrib sun/moon darkening (Matt. 24:29; Acts 2:20) WHEN “sudden destruction” (5:3) of the wicked occurs! The “rest” for “all them that believe” is also tied to such destruction in II Thess. 1:6-10! (If the wicked are destroyed before or during the trib, who’d be left alive to serve the Antichrist?) Paul also ties the change-into-immortality “rapture” (I Cor. 15:52) to the end of trib “death” (15:54). (Will death be ended before or during the trib? Of course not! And vs. 54 is also tied to Isa. 25:8 which Scofield views as Israel’s posttrib resurrection!) It’s amazing that the Olivet Discourse contains the “great commission” for the church but not even a hint of a pretrib rapture for the church!
Many don’t know that before 1830 all Christians had always viewed I Thess. 4’s “catching up” as an integral part of the final second coming to earth. In 1830 this “rapture” was stretched forward and turned into an idolized separate coming of Christ. To further strengthen their novel view, which evangelical scholars overwhelmingly rejected throughout the 1800s, pretrib teachers in the early 1900s began to stretch forward the “day of the Lord” (what Darby and Scofield never dared to do) and hook it up with their already-stretched-forward “rapture.” Many leading evangelical scholars still weren’t convinced of pretrib, so pretrib teachers then began teaching that the “falling away” of II Thess. 2:3 is really a pretrib rapture (the same as saying that the “rapture” in 2:3 must happen before the “rapture” ["gathering"] in 2:1 can happen – the height of desperation!). Google “Walvoord Melts Ice” for more on this, and also Google “Pretrib Rapture Pride.”
Other Google articles on the 183-year-old pretrib rapture view include “X-Raying Margaret,” “Margaret Macdonald’s Rapture Chart,” “Pretrib Rapture’s Missing Lines,” “Edward Irving is Unnerving,” “The Unoriginal John Darby,” “Catholics Did NOT Invent the Rapture,” “The Real Manuel Lacunza,” “Thomas Ice (Bloopers),” “Wily Jeffrey,” “The Rapture Index (Mad Theology),” “America’s Pretrib Rapture Traffickers,” “Roots of (Warlike) Christian Zionism,” “Scholars Weigh My Research,” “Pretrib Hypocrisy,” “Appendix F: Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Pretrib Rapture Secrecy,” “Deceiving and Being Deceived,” “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty,” “Famous Rapture Watchers,” and “Morgan Edwards’ Rapture View” – most by the author of the bestselling book “The Rapture Plot” (the most accurate and documented book on pretrib rapture history which is obtainable by calling 800.643.4645).

  3. I Am Not Ashamed Of the Gospel…………One thing really stands out that you say in your comment and that is: Jesus does not come back twice! If people buy into the rapture theory this is what would happen and that IS NOT BIBLICAL.
WARREN AND ANN…………..If ANYONE follows witchcraft or seances as the inventor of the rapture theory did then the word of God is not in them! For it is written: Jesus is the light of the world and the following scripture tells if one follows witchcraft and the like they have no light in them”And when they shall say unto you, seek unto them that have familar spirits, and unto wizards that peep(whisper), and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them”(Isaiah 8:19,20).
There is another scripture that people have derived this twisted rapture theory from and it’s: “Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold I am against your pillows(clouds),wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly,and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly”.(Ezekiel 13:20).verses 21-23 tells how this makes God sad.
There are good articles on this website about witchcraft and other things God says is an abomination to him! These are the days of False Prophets.Don’t get caught up in the biggest lie satan has going on out there”The rapture”.God Bless This Ministry of truth………….

  4. I have to support Anne on this, it is scriptural.
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:51,52
(This mystery of the rapture was never revealed before Paul revealed it)

“We who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” I Thessalonians 4:16,17

As Anne pointed out “caught up” is the english for the latin “rapiermur” where rapture is derived
The rapture will be on a feast day of the Lord i.e. feast of trumpets or Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah is the only feast day no one knows the exact day as two witnesses have to sight the new moon. ” No one knows the day or hour” but we can know the season.

The second coming of the Messiah The Lord Jesus Christ will be on the feast day Yom Kippur where His feet will touch the earth, where believers will return with Him then to reign with Him on the Earth.
Even Jesus said after speaking of the terrible things that will occur in the tribulationfor “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

    • I suppose I should have titled this post is the pre-tribulation rapture view in the Bible. The ‘Rapture’ your describing is not what the pre-tribulationists, are teaching. They are teaching, from one verse in Revelation 4:1-2 ‘After these things I looked and behold a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying Come Up Here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”Immediately I was in the Spirit and behold a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.’ They say that this is the rapture. That is one of the worst twistings of scripture that I have ever seen. This in no way describes a rapture. There is not 2 second comings of Christ, he comes once and that is it. Period. Did you even read the post or watch the video? The only thing in question here, is the fact that some are teaching Christians will be secretly whisked away to be with Jesus, and they will be there with him for 7 years, having a big banquet while the rest of the world is destroyed, and our Brother’s and sisters that weren’t GOOD enough to be raptured, will be killed. This is not a sound doctrine, and it is not based on scripture I don’t care how you twist it. Be very careful, search the scriptures, and be aware that evil is overtaking us and we must overcome, as for me, I’m looking up for one day I will see the sky roll back and the King of Kings will appear in the sky, every knee will bow, and we will be drawn to Him! But until that day, I will stand up for truth, stand up against evil, unlike the churches today, who don’t seem to care, because if this were the tribulation they wouldn’t be here, and so they are silent while evil overtakes the world. Speak to God not man, read God’s word, not an in-depth study written by a man! John Darby is the MAN responsible for the pre-tribulation rapture theory, read the post. And watch the video. And remember you don’t need an in depth Bible study written or taught by Man. God will lead you through scripture. And it’s this view that upsets the apple cart, because the church wants to keep people thinking that the only one that can read or interpret scripture is a priest or minister. That is simply wrong. And I refuse to follow any teaching that began at a séance with a witch talking to the dead!! Hello!!! And that includes several of the major religions in the world today, as many are just as silly, as their visions from God go against every doctrine ever taught in the Old or New Testament. What you describe in your comment is the ‘Second Coming of our Lord and Savior’ period. It’s not a secret carrying away for 7 years, while the not good enough are tortured and killed. I can’t repeat that enough. This is not true. Again, be a Berean, you don’t need anything but a Bible and a close relationship with God. But prepare, prepare your mind, spirit and soul for His coming, He’s coming, He’s Close, Can you feel Him?

      • This is a good and healthy discussion and I very much appreciate the different views and whether established minds can be changed is doubtful but for the benefit of those who arent persuaded either way let me please address some of your points you brought up.
Pre-tribulationists (meaning rapture prior to the tribulation) do not hinge this belief on just Rev 4:1-2 but on a number of scriptures.
One has to firstly understand that the seven year tribulation is the final seven years of the 490 years spoken of by Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks (70×7 =490) are determined for YOUR PEOPLE”
This prophecy was directed at Daniels people who are the JEWS.
The birth of the “church” which Paul called a mystery, paused the clock at 483 years
Between the year 483 and 484 was the “time of the Gentiles”
When the rapture occurs, Daniels prophetic clock begins again, who for? YOUR PEOPLE.
This is when the 144,000 begin there evanglism of the world along with the two witnesses.
The church is never mentioned after Revelations 4, not until Revelation 19 where the church is the WIFE of the Lamb. Where was the Church between these chapters? In heaven being presented as a bride to her husband Jesus Christ. Celebrating the marriage feast.
Its interesting that an ancient Jewish tradition concerning marriage typifies this.
When a man finds a woman and wants to marry her, the groom betroths her and leaves her for one year and promises her to return after he has gone to his fathers house to prepare a room for him and his new wife to be. Reminds me of what Jesus promises in John 14:1-4
When he has prepared the room, he returns to receive the bride and takes her back to his fathers house. There he is married to her and lives out of sight of everyone for one week (7 days) after 7 days he presents hs wife to family and friends.
This is an accurate picture of Christ coming to collect her bride the church, and for seven years out of sight of the rest of the world he is “married” to her, after the seven years of tribulation, Christ presents his “wife”

It all makes perfect sense to me.

      • Yes, I also appreciate the different views. I really do, for they are the ones who taught me much about our Jewish history. I do appreciate the teaching about the bridegroom leaving his bride to prepare a place for them in his father’s house. The book of Daniel is very much a part of the time of the end. But I don’t believe that it has anything to do with 7 years in heaven with Jesus. This is the part that worries me, for so many have become sleepy and unprepared as in the parable of the bridegroom and the bridesmaids, they have let their oil run dry, and are no longer watching and letting their light shine, because they will not be here, the first thing that happens for them is the secret whisking away, so they don’t care about the evil that is running rampant. Before Jesus gave His life, He told the Desciples ‘You will see me no more, but in a ‘LITTLE WHILE’ you will see me. His resurrection caught them off guard because they thought they wouldn’t see Him anymore. He commanded over and over again, that if we didn’t watch, His second coming would come as a thief in the night. He warned of this sleepy, lukewarmness in Revelation. Jesus didn’t say, just wait, don’t worry about anything because I will be back to get you before any tribulation comes. He didn’t say, 7 years before my Father decides to destroy the wicked I’ll come back for you. He said if you overcome, you will sit with me on my throne. I also disagree with the fact that the church isn’t mentioned in Revelation until chapter 19. We are mentioned throughout this prophecy. These prophecies have been ongoing since Jesus died and came into His Kingdom in heaven. All through this prophecy there are warnings for those who accept the mark, for example in the 5th trumpet ‘They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads…’Then in Revelation 15:2 John saw this: And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb…’ Then in Revelation 16 Jesus himself say’s this: Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake, and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed. The Mystery you speak of is not the mystery of the church, this is no mystery. Revelation 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ Revelation 10:7 ‘But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the MYSTERY OF GOD will be accomplished just as he announced to His servants the prophets. The Mystery of God is not the church. I agree with Corrie Ten Boom, we have done a great dis-service to the saints for not preparing them to face tribulation. The most mis-quoted scripture is the fact that we will not face tribulation, because ‘God has not appointed us to wrath.’ No we will not face God’s wrath on Satan and His kingdom, but as Jesus said, there will be much tribulation, Matthew 24:9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for Mhy name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved! We should be teaching how to endure to the end as Paul, and the rest of the Apostles taught. That is the dangers of getting turned around in the scriptures, that is what keeps me awake at night. There are millions of Christians who are being thrown into great tribulation who are not prepared! For He is coming, He’s close, Can you feel Him? Prepare today, for time is short. Will He find His light on earth, or will he find the Church as it is today, without oil for their lights, and naked and asleep?

  5. What a nice thought to think we will just fly away into the clouds with Christ and completely not see any tribulation.Sounds beautiful,BUT NOT BIBLICAL!We the Church who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ WILL BE going through the tribulation for Revelation tells of those arrayed in white robes that have COME OUT OF THE TRIBULATION. “After this I beheld, and, Lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, THESE ARE THEY WHICH CAME OUT OF GREAT TRIBULATION, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb”.(Revelation 7:9,13,14).We are covered with the blood of Christ who is our protection through the tribulation.God Bless This Ministry Of truth.

  6. Thank you. Now I have a question, did not St. Paul do the same I.e., preach his own version of Christianity? I have read this to be so, and it troubles me as I believe much of today’s Christian teachings are in fact the words of St. Paul and not the words of our Lord Jesus the Christ.

    • St. Paul did not preach his own version of Christianity. St. Paul taught the same thing as the other Apostles. St. Paul was chosen by God to bring the Gospel to the Jews. He was very well educated in the Torah, God’s words. St. Paul was visited by Jesus and he was taken into heaven in the spirit and taught and shown many things, just like other prophets in the old testament. The myth about St. Paul is just that a myth.

  7. The word rapture comes from the Latin translation in 1Thesseloninans 4 ‘rapiermur’ the Greek translation is ‘harpazo’ which means to be caught up. The ‘ theory’ is actually there written in scripture, Jesus said the body of Christ is His bride and not appointed to suffer wrath. We will be taken in the blink of an eye, at a moment that no one knows. The tribulation is the wrath of God, it will be the worst the world has ever known, not to punish those who love The Lord but those who have rejected Him. He says the day or the hour is not known, He could come at any time and to be ready! God bless.

    • Thank you Anne, I won’t debate this though. Jesus gives a clear picture of what His coming will be like in Matthew and Luke. And yes in Thessalonians Paul tells us that at the sound of the last trump we will be gathered together, that is not a secret rapture 7 years before the tribulation. We are experiencing tribulation now, there is no set time for this either, as the video points out. I will not say you are doomed for believing this, but I do caution anyone who thinks that we will not see the Anti-Christ or his kingdom, or tribulation. Tribulation is different than God’s wrath. Just be aware, that’s all.

  8. To the writer here when you say your not as smart as a scholar…Well I have wonderful news for you…YOUR NOT AS SMART…YOUR SMARTER!with all you have said in your comment you have shown more knowledge than you’d get from a houseful of scholar’s…You see God is not impressed with man’s knowledge of twisting his word and he is not one that like’s titles for that would put one person above another and he just is not a respecter of person’s and would say they are a Scholar(MAN’S TITLE).
“Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man. For I know not to give flattering tittles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away”.
(Job 32:21,22).You see you have the Holy Spirit and can discern the wisdom of God(Truth) from the wisdom of man and that is a great divide!God bless This Ministry of truth to show what wrong teaching can do! and that is take soul’s from the hand of God.What an enlightening story here(S-T-O-R-Y and that is all Rapture is.one man’s story that took off).Don’t be taken in my dear People.search the scriptures for yourself.this Theory is not in there.
